Tom Tom
If Billy had an ounce of artistic integrity he would’ve done more like this |

I am frequently baffled why this song isn’t popular.

Tom Tom was probably the best song from Teargarden.

And yet it's still an awful song. Really makes you think.

Gossamer.
Gossamer. Gossamer. By far the greatest SP song never recorded or never released publicly. Gossamer is a GREAT song. I don't listen to it everyday.. but each time I go back and listen to it.. especially the Rock AM Ring version.. I'm like holy shit.. it's sort of like the only Porcellina-esque, e.g: long-winding epic song from the Pumpkins that has been GREAT since MCIS.. and yes the songs "Oceania" and "United States" are simply not good in comparison to Gossamer.. lyrics, song structure, emotion.. Gossamer hands down. If Billy were smart he would have recorded an awesome version of Gossamer for this Solara EP.. but he's not smart.. so oh well.. too bad for people who still give 2 fucks |

Yeah Gossamer was great. Though it was def better early on in the tour (like the first Grand Rex show) than the 35 minute jam it became at the Fillmore. And def not he version played with Mike Burns in backstage hallways on the Oceania tour

If we're talking about anything by Billy, I think it would be Desire.

last great SP song? hands down this one -
last great billy song? tons from zwan to choose from but this one stands out too- i also think this one might be a good contender for more recent SP, but as many other good tracks we never got a studio version of this one.. there are several good live versions out there though, check out the guitar solo @ 5:05 - very nice billy shredding |

If I'm honest, I don't think there's a single SP song post the initial break up that had that magic to it. There have been promising attempts (the first time Billy played Tom tom and Make it happen with Backwards Clock Society etc), but yeah, it is what it is. Something got broken beyond repair with Billy when the band imploded. We can pretend that it didn't, but it did.
Machina II is full of that said magic, still. A song like "Vanity" that no one ever talks about even here is so beautiful. That's some master-level songwriting right there: |

Omg do i ever love vanity
That’s a bit of chorus and slight phase on that thick wall of slab of busted up concrete guitar riff isn’t there? God i love the vibe of that recording |

Burnt Orange Black is wildly over rated. Has a good name, that's it.

Slow Dawn probably. There's a lot of great stuff on M2, mind you. But Slow Dawn has something that just makes everything work. Might be the verses.
SP from 2007-now, no idea. There are a few pretty good songs, but nothing great that I can recall. I do like Neverlost a lot, severely underrated imo |

Peace + Love was almost a great song. This lad did his best to take it to the next level. Honourable shout out for 99 Floors. This live version of Song for A Son would belong on a best of live album for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfTe2jq-qHw There was a very good acoustic album that could have been made from the post zeitgeist -residency material. Unfortunately, our Billy made sure that didn't happen. Probably wasn't 'commercially viable'. |

Hmmm... I'd go with:
Stellar Sunkissed Quasar Inkless I remember Quasar getting a lot of hate back in the day but it always sounded killer to me. The guitar parts all sound amazing and Billy's vocals sound the best they have since the Machina era. I also think the chorus is just fucking rad. I love listening to that song when I'm out for a run or doing pullups. |
