Yeah I was reading about it some time ago. Sounds essential. Can't wait to check it out.

My favorite is Trompe Le Monde. Definitely wayyyyyyyyy underrated as far as Pixies albums go.

Can't believe no ones picked it yet.

No one's picked it yet because Doolittle/Surfer Rosa are like 99.99% of the fanbase's favorites. This is a boring thread, tbh.

Doolittle gets my pick because it doesn't have Tony's Theme on it.

I hate that shit.

I like it. It's vivacious.

I really neglected Trompe. That album slays. Well said Fuzzflop.

Between Doolitle and Surfa Rosa, I think I'd have to go with Surfa Rosa. I'm all about the River Euphrates

It's definitely the best album from a sonic standpoint from the band.

I see you also mentioned Bossonova took! I love me that album to. Fucking Hangwire and Havelina man... 2 of my favorite tracks from the group.

I actually listen to Boss and Trompe the most. I used to loovvvvvvvvveeeee Doolitle, but I think I went overkill on it.

Yeah Bossanova is so sunny and breezy and American Southwesty. I used to get stoned and listen to the Happening and twirl around in my dad's office chair.

Best song on that album is the short one "she's my fav undressing in the sun return to me..." ana? Flawless shit yo.

Can't explain. Just find it gr8ing. Like an inside joke or something you're forced to overhear repeatedly.

It really is such a tough call between those first four. Can't pick, but I guess it would go to Doolittle just due to the fact that it was my first Pixies album. Mind expanding type business.

Two other Pixies thoughts:

1.) The "Death to the Pixies" is a great compilation of Pixies. So much more than a Greatest Hits album. I love the track sequencing, etc - thing is great. Kind of like the SP 1991-1998 promo disc, which also had great sequencing and some good flow to it.

2.) I saw the Pixies a few months ago and the show was just great. Before it, I decided to give "Head Carrier" a spin, even after Indie Cindy. Was pleasantly surprised by a few tracks, and even managed to have "Might As Well Be Gone" lodged in my head for a few days. Obviously there are some parallels to Teargarden era Pumpkins but it's a decent track.

Not to pollute a thread about four iconic albums with new material, but in case you haven't at least given it a shot:

I really wish they hadn't come back. They've tainted their legacy like the Pumpkins.

1. Trompe Le Monde
2. Bossanova
3. Surfer Rosa
4. Doolittle
