ok here's me playing tales of a scorched earth, to the instrumental version of the song on the MCIS reissue. through carstens grace.. imo the hardest SP song to play. i even attempted the noise solo in the middle.

fuck yes, amazing

i love that alabamahalle version of siva too, the carnival music cuts off right into the most amazing, heavy distortion

dude it was one of the highlights of our whole trip, the power outage just adds to the whole experience

I know it's different when you're in the band that's playing and you want things to sound good, but my experience was a pretty great one!

nice

i feel like HINW is underrated as far as songwriting. it's a beautiful song, really well written and creative

intro has been my phone ring for a long ass time too

Yeah it's a clever idea to omit the prechorus the first time around. Good songwriting is all about subverting expectations, building and releasing tension like that.

It's also a really fun and satisfying song to play.

No way?! I had never heard him say that. Do you have an exact quote? Thatís nice to hear, lol. It is very hard to keep it steady, and on top of that make sure all of the articulations donít die off because youíre getting tired playing... and it doesnít let up!! Also, those 16ths have to be the straightest 16ths in a pumpkins song ever.. a lot of times thereís a slight swing to how they usually play 16ths, so itís just a very different song for them in that regard.

he didn't really say much but yeah

yeah with stuff like speed or tonight, it's much more jazzy and groovy instead of straight ahead metal. ["metal"?]

Ray gun was a great touch! Where did you find that? I remember seeing them play that in 1996 and thinking the shrillness of that gun sound effect would melt my brain.

thanks! i think i found it at newberry comics? I've had it for almost a decade, battery still lives on. I'm pretty sure you can find them on amazon too.

I've used the ray gun in live sets where my band is doing some freak out noise improvs.. 10 times out of 10 if that gets used on stage, that's all anybody wants to talk to me about after.

Are you running a power attenuator or anything like that?

100W at bedroom levels might otherwise involve tone sacrifices, I'd imagine.
