I'm on the fence about this one. Heavy version was released on the FEOMM tape in april 2000, then the soft version on M2 in early september, then shortly after that the heavy version was released officially on the Try single.

Might be a good question for the bull. My gut tells me that V1 is the heavy version, however.

Netphoria has always been a diverse bunch, but the MACHINA hate is a little unexpected. GatGC is one of my all time favorite SP songs. It transports me to another plane of existence like nothing else. How can one listen to the likes of Wound, Home, Speed Kills, Stand Inside Your Love, Slow Dawn, Age of Innocence and not fall in love with the beauty? On the flip side of that coin, the sheer dark power and profundity of Dross, Lucky 13, Cash Car Star, Blue Skies Bring Tears and Age of Innocence. The many faces of this era usher in a sense of pure musical brilliance, even if slightly enigmatic in nature. I truly love everything about the album/era so much.

I have spent countless nights sifting through the various forms of releases and have crafted what I believe to be the perfect flowing double album. I know I will get shit on, but I don't care. Some of the transitions in my sequencing are perfection in my humble opinion.

Kudos for this sequencing - it’s damn good. I would put Go in there instead of White Spyder.

Or I’d lose Raindrops. The issue is opening an album you want to frontload with some of the strongest tracks: IFTIAG >R&S is kinda lame.

While normally I would agree, but this is a big bloated concept double album. Even if the narrative is ultimately lost in favor of a better flowing album its still there in the background.

I will admit, I am biased as I love Raindrops + Sunshowers. Also, I commit a mortal sin and use a version of the fan made sad remix of If There Is a God that I edited. It ends with the sound of rain that just flows perfectly in my opinion.

This is the remix, although the original version I used was of a vastly better quality and had less reverb.

I hate to say it but I still think Big Bill's inadvertent Instagram playlist is still the best I've heard. I refuse to believe those songs were listed just as he remembered them. They had to have been referenced from something. Otherwise he would have just provided the tracklists verbatim from M1, M2, and FAEOMM, and then the stranded b-sides/unreleased material.

Re entertaining the chart/concept/machina mystery

It's interesting from a behind-the-scenes perspective or as an exercise in storytelling, but the imposition of the narrative, for me, cheapens the experience. It's like having a good book spoiled by the movie version; the world you'd imagined becomes flat and full of contrivance. The Fall & Redemption of Glass? No thanks. Let the context of my life help create an experience in tandem with the music and artwork.

Drive through the back roads at dusk trying to beat the storm home. Pull over when you can't see through the windshield anymore and let it pass overhead. The fireflies come out after and the cornfields smell sweet. You're on the cusp of something. Drown me in a sea of rain and night and mud

Yea I mean let's not forget that the whole concept tanked when D'arcy left and Billy literally said (something like) "we had to go back and approach the album from a different POV. We weren't interested in story anymore but songs"

If I can find that exact quote I'll post it but I'm not going to break my back.

When Wretzky’s commitment to the band began to erode, plans began to change. Though rumored since late summer, it was publicly announced in September that she had left the band.
