Muse i'm toally down with (i have much love for the Aboslution material, especially live), and i would easily go see this same show. Can't wait to see Muse again.

however, SSPU are just way too amateur-hour for me to really get into. they're always sloppy live, and the music always comes off way too thin and limp dick. plus the latest album was a major major disappointment imo.

Last night Muse randomly showed up at Stubb's in Austin and performed - no one knew they were going to do so.

I'm seeing David Bazan and the Headlights next Saturday. Down the road is the XX, Big Pink and a shitload of bands at XPN's World Cafe Live.

I have. It's a cool place to see a show; I'm a member of XPN - there's nothing in this country that I know about that pushes musicians to a national scene more than XPN. They are awesome.

Helen Light is also annoying on the air - something about her style irks me.

Like five of the next six performances - going with a friend who has to work the shows.

I like XPN but it seems like they're always pushing the same midtempo adult indie stuff (Dr Dog, Sharon Jones, David Gray, etc). good station though. This irks me about XRT in Chicago a lot as well

Yeah, XPN is either really good or really annoying. It is usually up to who is on the air at that hour. Another good station is The Current in Minneapolis. They stream they'll pretty much play anything. Other than getting into the habit of replaying some newer songs to death, you never really know what you're going to hear.
