Default The Drums - Portamento

Somehow they are post-punk and pop. It's like they made their own subgenre: post-punk pop. But seriously New Order and Smiths fans will love this. Great album.

i heard about these guys on this board back when let's go surfing came out. been a big fan ever since. mr. pierce just put out a solo song and he's working on a solo album.

my wife and i heard about a show they were playing in denver after portamento came out just a few hours before it happened. we drove all the way down there in our shit car. they were playing the hi-dive and it had sold out! we were bummed and didn't know what we were gonna do for the rest of the night, so i suggested we walk round back. you never know...

anyway, it turns out jonathan and jacob were just getting out of the tour van to go in and we waved to 'em. i said, "we couldn't get in, but i hope you guys have a great show!" they walked over with their tour manager and we talked for a minute and they told him to put us on the guest list. got us in free! "breaking" fire code rules and everything. hehe.

they seriously put on the best show i've ever been to. the whole set was awesome. afterwards we got to talk to the tour manager some more, and to myles. super awesome fun time.

portamento's a great album. you should all check it out.
