Smooth Operator (the record) is an instant time warp for me, my mom played that in the car a lot in the 80's. She had/has such a good voice. The kind you don't hear a lot anymore.

Nothing wrong with pop at all. In fact I love a lot of it. But that Paramore song doesn't even have a good hook or anything. Katy Perry hits blow that track outta the water.

I was listening to a bunch of "vintage" Madonna the other day, really enjoyable stuff.

Good musics just good music.

Check out Sonic Youth covering Madonnas get into the groove, fucking sweet man

Not a fan really. Last album I listened to by them was the one with Slide and that City of Angels single. They've had some solid singles over the years though. Guilty pleasures, sure. But I still think some of their early stuff holds up really well. They have enough good stuff to make for a really enjoyable concert.

This was a nice, enjoyable, semi recent song

I saw her again on the 2011 tour, she still has a good voice. Choreographed entertainment show, but I really enjoyed it, it seemed everyone there did. An audience and atmosphere like that is rare.

They don't make singers like her anymore.
(Also god damn, how can you look like that at 52.)

Oh i know iv'e always said that. I don't know what special juice she drinks but she ages more slwoly than anyone. I remember seeing her on tv in the late 90s and thinking that, then in the mid 2000s, then a few years ago on her tour poster (though probably promo pictures should never be trusted too much)

She does look as beautiful as on promo pictures.
And she is so full of life somehow, and sexy, and... okay I stop now.

nuclear seasons is fucking ridiculous

i really hate the fact that her breakthru is singing the hook on Fancy.

also i hate the fact that i missed her at a small venue here pre-Fancy because i was too embarassed to be a fan of Charli XCX in public. i have the same issue with Robyn.

I KNOW. First song I heard of hers was "What I Like," immediately pirated the album, after "Nuclear Seasons" as the first track, she had me. God, I really wish I knew about her sooner. I bet her shows would be so geeeeeeeewwwddd. From her interviews, her album is going to be really "poptastic." And I don't take that in a cheeky way. :/

Superlove is incredible, if shallow, but a hell of a groove. "Boom Clap" sounds like I'm going to be really disappointed and she sold out hard.

She's a record company tool, like a guitar is to a guitarist. She's a fabulous instrument. Congratulations to her.

i mean besides the fact that we just were talking about about a half dozen vocalists or more that are every bit as "impressive" as she is, and a whole lot more interesting to boot

This is called horrible singing in my world.

This is to pop singing what a nickelback riff is to playing guitar. Generic as shit.

I mean it's ok to like Paramore as long we're clear this is souless shit music.

Yeah well she is a clueless provincial hick from mississippi. She wouldn't know cool if it rubbed its balls on her face.

(I mean it's ok to be from mississippi, as long as we're clear that makes you a clueless hick)
