You're all spoiled by over produced layered crap. Raw guitar is fucking awesome and this is no exception.

I'm at work right now and can't watch/listen to it, but as soon as I get home and turn it on I know what I'm going to be focusing on now...the guitars! Also it's funny how people say the guitars suck in Jimmy's band and the drums suck in Billy's music. What's worse in both? The drums or the guitars?

It sounds like the background music to an 80s instructional video

In case anyone doesn't know who gannin is, he was the replacement guitarist in the JCC band during the last half of their tour. Sean Woolstenhulme (the original) was a much, much better guitarist. This guy is pretty fusion based but over does it.. shred shred shred!! he plays aimlessly, much like corgan does.. but gannin still has a bit more vocab. |

If you seriously think there's something wrong with the guitar then apparently you have no fucking clue about music.

I don't know what you guys are talking about with the guitars, I don't know if it's just me but that doesn't look easy to do.

Well, it's no Wes Montgomery, but it fits the song pretty well, and the tone is pleasant. I've got a SG Standard too, and he put a right amount of emphasis on its features.

This music kicks ass. I wish that the Pumpkins could have evolved in this direction along with Jimmy, or really just have included certain elements of this style as it fits into the context of a rock song. If you just incorporated some vocals and straight forward riffing/hook into the music in the first video, I could easily imagine this becoming a Pumpkins song. Now I actually want to see this band more than I feel compelled to go to another SP show in its current amalgamation.
Also: it does kind of sound like commercial background music for some video or sports show. Then again they are usually accomplished studio musicians who perform these things. My first guitar teacher was primarily interested in jazz, and he eventually went off to work for ESPN. Last edited by stumpycat : 04-17-2010 at 12:38 AM. |
