there's a lot of complete and utter shit that gets hyped (eric clapton for example) but it would be silly not to check out the stones, ccr, bowie, the kinks, neil young or even sabbath (and bruce springsteen??)

CCR - pretty good overall Bowie - meh. 'Low' is outstanding. Kinks - okay Neil Young - for the most part, is really good Sabbath - some great tracks, but overall average (to me) Springsteen - boring stuff like Deep Purple, The Who etc, i just can't do. It's not that i have an overt dislike for it, it just does nothing for me. |

uh, sorry.. yeah. Play a kit the size of Keith Moon's and you'll hit something no matter where you put your hands. Moon is famous for big silly fills that a lot of the time could have been done without. Bonham, on the other hand, reinvented the way that rock drums were played. His grooves were burly and simple and engaging. Jimmy wouldn't be shit today without the work that Bonham laid before him.

moon was integral to the who due to the way in which he colored the sound (entwhistle acted as the band's timekeeper instead of him). Comparing them based on technical skill is like comparing Jimmy Page and the Billie Joe Armstrong

also: while he never used a double kick, pretty sure Bonham's kit was larger than Moon during the later tours (73-80)

i love dinosaur jr. and don't even know why. although, i guess they are one of the few bands to regroup after a decade and put out two albums that actually don't suck.
