Default Girls Against Boys - Freak On Ica

I remember in the 90s seeing the video for Park Avenue and thinking they had a cool sound. Kind of a mix of Nine Inch Nails style industrial rock mixed with some electronica. I was surprised to find out Freak On Ica doesn't sound like most of their material. They are mostly a hardcore punk and indie rock band.

Stabbing Westward had some nice singles. I think this was around the time Version 2.0 by Garbage came out and I was really feeling that.

it's so goddamn obvious that them and gravity kills were attempts by other labels, or maybe even the same one, to cash in on the popularity of NIN. and i was like hey man this is cool at the time because i was the exact demographic they wanted to bilk and they paid the radio stations to do it

what i love about fuzzball who will be here shortly to defend both bands and their kickass tunes how can you not like this youtube imbedded video nobody will ever watch

anyway, what i love about fuzzball is that he buys into these bands that are literally extant because rival labels were searching for the bands that sound the closest to nine inch nails or nirvana or pearl jam or whatever that they can. but lorde or whatever is too much. yah okay dude STP grew organically not the other labels looking for a single that sounded like pearl jam

But when record labels do this with Adelle rip-offs you're all for it

Look man, it's obvious that groups like STP and Bush were knock-offs to a certain extent, but they still released great songs. I mean obviously the record label was searching for a Nirvana vibe when they signed Bush, but when you compare those bands side by side they have quite different eccentricities. Rossdale had a great voice and their guitar work destroyed Nirvanas.

I agree that STP is kind of embarrassing in some rights. I mean Plush has to be the biggest PJ rip off ever. The only song I really dig off Core is Creep. Purple was the album I was all for.

STP has their moments. I mean Creeps just a classic single, and it sounds nothing like Pearl Jam or Nirvana

bush sounded so much like nirvana when i first heard "come down," now i don't really know what i was hearing. they're pretty distinguishable once you've heard enough of each for a while

what does this even mean

you think all pop stars are exactly the same so you just take the most famous one that you don't listen to and say the rest are rip offs

you want originality?

but you want the same old shit

I was talking about how you were gushing over Lorde. Clearly a cheap Adelle knock-off.

blue eyed soul is one of the stupidest names for a genre ever. It shouldn't even be a genre. I refuse to acknowledge its existence as a genre.

gushing and defending are two different things, i've only listened to "royals"

you've never given it any time because you are very stupid and proud to make snap judgements

I've heard the song a million times. Plays daily at the supermarket I work at. I hate that Minimalist Pharell/Wlll-I-Am crap. Figure it would have run it's course by now

Seriously dude the only thing the two have in common is that they're female pop singers. You are actively endorsing trots accusations of mysoginy.

This is an argument that is many orders of magnitude weaker than "I'm not racist because I have black friends"
