I just got a chance to watch this. It was funny that the interviewer, apparently unaware that Billy writes all the songs in Smashing Pumpkins, kept asking Jeff about songwriting expecting him to talk about writing with Billy Corgan. Instead, we get to hear Jeff talk about his soundtrack work no one cares about. Jeff seems like a genuinely nice guy who loves music, but he really is the complete opposite of James Iha in every way.

I like Jeff just fine. I'm sure he's a nice enough guy and his skills are certainly "there," but show me one recording where he contributed to the legacy of SP in the same way James did in his day (even when it was supposedly just Billy doing everything all along, right?).

I think Jeff would be better served in another, original band. Much in the same way I woulda enjoyed Zeitgeist/Oceania et al more if they were released by a new band "inspired by SP" than something from Corgan pretending to be SP, if that makes any sense.

Like, if Silversun Pickups (or someone) had released Oceania in 2012 I'd be all "fuck yeah, that is so Pumpkins!" but it really doesn't feel like authentic Pumpkins coming from Billy.
