Neko Case, Rufus Wainwright, Stars (though I did like that one song), Metric and Feist are all fails. Godspeed is alright though not as good as Mogwai or Sigur Ros in the genre. BSS had one good record. I never heard Destroyer I don't think. Anyway, that's still too few to make up for the crap. Dig deeper. Also, Arcade Fire's last record sucks but it's too early to tell if that's gonna become a habit though I suspect so, they've been around ten years or so, I expect they've run out.

I dug the articles Pallet made for Slate where he deconstructed radio hits through musical theory. I give him a pass just for that.

also ever noticed when people name good Canadian bands they pretty much name the same bands that were part of the "Canadian indie wave" in like 2003? (well aside when they name older classic artists like Neil young, rush, Cohen, Joni Mitchell etc) What since? That's it?

Aussie refers to Australia, never New Zealand.

I realize that but musical genres are never terribly accurate. It's not terribly important. I corrected/admitted the mistake and I didn't invent the term.

split enz for example has members from both NZ and AU which is not uncommon and Marc Hunter/Dragon was inducted to the ARIA HOF.

I know it's a touchy subject for you guys.

Personally, I'm not one to base genres geographically.

Though I do occasionally indulge in some East Coast French K-pop

Australia has bigger audiences and more opportunities than little old NZ.

I think one underrated Canadian band would definitely have to be Gob. I think their mainstream hits never really did them any justice. Heres a few cool tracks:

has nothing to do with self-identification. it's a label slapped on by the rest of the world.

Their (complete?) discography is on Pirate Bay in FLAC. Three albums. I couldn't find the re-release of Sold For a Smile with the Cyndi Lauper song and the revamped version of First Day though. I was a bit let down, their music is really inconsistent. There are a few real heavy hitters across the three records but probably nothing else as good as First Day. I can't decide which version I like better. The rock version definitely rocks, but the earlier version is so 1994 I could die

Ok well yes I do remember that I always had a reputation for not liking most music...THAT would be true.

She's So Unusual is the shit. I love this record. It's a shame she peaked on her debut.

Yeah I feel ya. Sold for a smiles really the only album I really liked. The original album with First day is pretty spotty and I didn't even know they had an album before that lol.
