Does anyone else here like Because You Are? It should have been on Adore instead of Tear.

I dunno man. I'm pretty much into everything hardcore up to and including Machina 2. I love all versions of heavy metal machine also.

Yeah, I firmly stand by "The Crying Tree of Mercury" and the album version of "Blue Skies Bring Tears" as great songs. I feel like they are just too weird for some people who are into more conventional rock songs, and not weird mood pieces.

Rock On cover
If There is a God
The Last Song
The Bells

Weirdly, the only song on Machina 1 I really don't like is Age of Innocence, which is one of the most straightforward on there. Thinking about it, Innocence on Machina II isn't all that really.

I'm surprised by how many people don't like Tear. It's always been one of my favorites on Adore. Maybe even one of my favourite SP songs- it sums up the record for me. I love that dramatic roll off the toms at the start, into that super-dark string part. The live version as great too.

- Apathy's Last Kiss
- Methuselah
- Age Of Innocence
- Soot and Stars
- Do You Close Your Eyes When You Kiss Me
- Because You Are
- Home
Fucking hell, AOI and Home are classic SP songs, I'm considering asking for a ban for this reason alone.

Soot and Stars and Methuselah are so much better than almost anything SP 2.0 has put out. The others are meh.

I didn't dig Blue Skies Bring Tears until I heard this version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElzVcmQ5vDE , and that somehow made studio version "click", so now I like both a lot. Same with Starla, the studio version seemed so-so, but the IAGR live version made me appreciate both.

About a good third of the pre-gish material is forgettable and I can't be assed to sift through it all
The backing vocals to Bury Me really drag the song down, and I only ever really loved the end.
Always found Tristessa and Suffer kinda meh
Blue is forgettable
Jesus Is The Sun is unintentionally hilarious
Girl Named Sandoz is a passable cover of a really, really shitty, stupid song
Cannot fucking stand the original distorted-to-fuck version of Apathy's Last Kiss, rough mix on the reissue was way better
I've always found Meladori Magpie halfway listenable to kind of irritating. Don't think they ever really nailed it
Used to think the Night Like This cover was decent. Then I got into the Cure and heard the original. I'm now prepared to call it one of the worst things in the whole catalog.
God was a fun song when I was a kid. Now it's boring.
Speed
Annie-Dog should have been a B-Side
Do You Close Your Eyes
The Crying Tree Of Mercury. I don't hate it but I feel like it really needs narrative context. Taken alone it's baaaad
The alt mix of Try Try Try with accompaniment by a broken police siren
Soul Power and Rock On are both painful covers, though Soul Power gets points for great screams at the end
Untitled is meh

The covers are unlistenable almost always

I never liked Rhinoceros and Silverfuck as much as everyone else, but I don't *hate* them.

Because You Are
Glass (all of them)
HMM (all of them)
Try Try Try on M1
Ava Adore
Daphne Descends
Blank Page
Fucking Annie Dog
BSBT

you get the idea of what I dislike, probably

Gish - all killer
Siamese Dream - it's a great song but I get tired of hearing Disarm
MCIS - BWBW (heard it on the radio the other day and his voice is soooo nasally), Take Me Down (it's ok, but the Bells would've been much better in its spot)
TAFH - Destination Unknown, everything else is gold
Adore - Annie Dog (don't hate it, but still think Once in a While or Waiting should've been in its place)
Machina - TEG (the acapella part has made me cringe since 2000), The Imploding Voice
Machina II - Glass, Blue Skies Bring Tears (only good version is the FAEOMM one), HMM (turgid wannabe industrial crap),

i think the main songs being called out are the super gothy/emo ones and it may depend on your general state of being as a teenager back then.

i remember all of adore with absolute fondness. my favourite pastime was being dramatic in my room with adore on repeat and my mother becoming increasingly irritated at billys voice. she seriously thought i was listening to neil young most of the time.

There is a whole lot of Imploding Voice dislike in here, holy shit

To each their own and all, and I know it's repetitive, but I've never been able to stop myself from bobbing my head to it.

k, doing songs I actually dislike, not songs that are mediocre or whatever.

- Suffer
- Tales of a Scorched Earth
- We Only Come Out at Night
- Tear
- Aplles And Orangez or however he spells it
- Pug
- Behold the Nightmare
- Patichio Medley (not even a song, but as a track, just, no)
- Heavy Metal Machine
- The Imploding Voice
- Fucking Mercury Tree
- If there is a God
- Le Deux Machina
- Because You Are
- Sparrow
- Winterlong

The Crapping Tree of Mercury
The Imploding Noise
Heavy Metal Machine
With Every Shite
(Really, most of Machina I can go fuck itself other than TEG, SIYL and AOI)

Annie-Dog
Take Me Down
Blew Away
Go
Slow Dawn
Spaced
Saturnine (Machina II “We Recorded This in a Furnace Room” version)
Sparrow
Winterschlong
Daphne Descends
Apathy’s Last Kiss

Also, I don’t really consider them songs but those weird “spacey” versions of HMM and Glass on M2 were ear cancer.

I always liked Lily. It’s funny, lol.

We Only Come Out at Night is the only MCIS song (by Billy) that I struggle with. I like it but it’s so dumb. The chorus makes me cringe a bit.
