After MTAE I'll be honest, I'd lost hope. Looking back, it's just a mistake. But Ogilala is really good. Gives me an Adore vibe. Archer is great.

I guess because Ogilala is actually good? Despite my name, MTAE is pretty inexcusable. Run2Me, Being Beige, Anti Hero. After that shit, I really didn't think something like Archer could come from Billy Corgan again. So the whole new album is really surprising.

I went full fanboy looking forward to the album back in 2014. I'm not saying I'm proud of it. I've shamed most of my family, and when I'm driving I roll the windows down and turn up the Monuments. Fuck it I don't care.

Yeah man, that was a kick to cherries!
I guess I'm glad everyones enjoying the album though. Good for Corgan. I think I've just kind of outgrown his work for the most part. I'll still at least check out each release though cause every now and then there's a few songs that I like... It's just becoming few and far between. |

Like when I was 16 I'd probably here a hook like "Take me as I am" and think oh man! this is so personal and deep, the guys just pouring his heart out, this is amazing!
But now it's just like c'mon, is that all you got? For what it's worth I feel the same about Green Day and a bunch of other bands I really liked when I was younger. I guess this is growing up! |

Yeah man, I can't believe I didn't get into these guys earlier. It's exactly the kind of music I look for. I guess initially I just heard a song or 2 that didn't click. I had no idea they had such a vast catalogue!

Ehhh, In a lot of ways I think a lot of Billys older stuff is overrated too. He had a 5 year run that can't be fucked with, but everything afterwards has been sort of ordinary.... Yes, there's still some gems littered throughout those collections but the ratios started to dwindle in a shocking way. I realize that the mere sound of Corgans voice on new material is enough to initiate nostalgic joy in a lot of people, but it doesn't cut it for me anymore. It's time to move on folks. Nothing left to hear here. |

This album truly disappoints and gets worse the more times one gives it a listen. Done.

Come on, that is clearly an opinion. Reaction to art is always an opinion.
I really like the album. I was listening to the 07-28-2005 BC solo show (Sydney, Australia, acoustic, The Future Embrace period) and see a relationship to current tour/music. |

I'm enjoying the music, but I'm massively struggling with the lyrics. Half the time it's hard to follow what he is singing about, or even understand it under the production. That and the mumbled vowel approach make Ogilala a frustrating listen.
Off to listen to Mark Kozelek instead. |
