Punk is outdated. Post-Punk is outdated. We're on "indie" now

Actually music is outdated

I love Green Day, it's gross. I know the lyrics to every song that came out before American Idiot. I don't have the album that came out after that though.

You're eligible into the hall of fame 25 years after your first album. Green Days first release was in 1989. I think they were 17 at the time.

Right on, Green Days great. I love their earlier work too. Billie Joes a great songwriter.

Well color me "lame" but I absolutely love American Idiot and think it is one of the best pop records in the last fifteen or so years.

I love everything they put out before that album too.

Everything after, I can live without. Not a fan.

I learned to play bass to Green Day. I moved on later though..actually i felt i had already moved on from green day by the time i was playing along their records (i was 17/18 then) but i just really liked those basslines and its not like i had tons of music to play along to back then so i had to learn to something. Also this was fast paced so it was nice to learn uptempo playing.. I pretty much only bought Nimrod to see if there were songs worth learning. Sadly this would start going downhill bass wise form this record on.

I cant' really deny Dookie (and 1039 and kerplunk) because it was a records i listened to during a phase of my teens even if you know...i never lsiten to them. Also in terms of pop punk, worse shit was yet to come. Its funny but GD almost looks legit now compared to bands like Blink 182 and sum 41 and all this shit. The thing is they were about to maybe age gracefully you know in the early 2000s and then they did American Idiot and pretended they were kinda emo (look wise) and were suddenly hipper with the kids than ever and i just had to roll my eyes because that's when I knew they were not gonna redeem themselves in older age, just gonna keep on pretending they're snotty kids. And i mean oh but they're tackling like political punk now! Yeah in the lamest way possible...

Like i'm convinced they would have faded into obscurity had it not been for suddenly wearing eye liner and dying their hair black. This is the move that saved their career. Nobody would have cared about American Idiot otherwise.
