Default Is Obama Planting the "fainting participants" at his rallies?

Does anyone actually believe that there are massive amounts of people fainting because Barack Obama is speaking?

What are your theories, is the temperature too high? Are they plants?

I refuse to believe it's just his words that are causing people to pass out.

I would have no idea. I haven't heard more than 5 minutes of his show in years.

This was a serious question about why people are constantly passing out at his "rock star rallies" as the media calls them.

He keeps them wating for hours I heard, that coupled with being in a crowd, no need to plant them just make sure you make a big show about it from the stage.

I doubt it. The trendy thing is to call Obama supporters a cult and that Obama has a god-complex and on and on. I doubt they'd want to perpetuate that.

surely people can't be fainting because obama events are overcrowded with enthusiastic supporters in unanticipated numbers, standing for hours, because that's just too ridiculous. nah. must be plants.

surely the attention whore media and/or publicity seeking obama supporters can't be exaggerating and over-reporting what might be just a few rare instances of fainting. nah.

Seems odd that they're always in the front row, and he always has a water bottle to throw at them, and he generally says the same things every single time.

Just sayin'.

Obama should've climbed up to Superman's level and bent over in front of him while giving the big thumbs up. He obviously doesn't know a humorous photo opp when he sees one.

Obama = modern day JFK

I don't think that the fainters are being planted, since I really don't see what possible good they do for Obama. I'm sure it's nice and all that it appears that people are excited about him, but on the other hand, having displays of excitement on such a ridiculous level calls into question just how seriously people are taking his policy views. It doesn't do you any good to have people so excited that they have to be carted off before you can get on stage and tell them what you're actually going to do.

Personally, I see all the rabid fanaticism about Obama just as a kind of grossly amplified version of the typical "vote for the guy I'd have a beer with" mentality.

This is a pretty dumb thread Nimrod. People have to show up hours early and stand up like a concert to see Obama speak, and it's understandable that some people might be exhausted by the time he takes the stage, especially on a warm day.

It gets really awkward when it happens, and Obama certainly doesn't seem comfortable with it.

So what's unique about the way that Obama's campaign handles his events that sends his supporters into exhaustion and loss of consciousness? It sounds to me like Obama needs to not keep people waiting around so long, or at least provide some seating or something at his events. Or maybe this phenomenon is a typical thing for political gatherings...but still, you rarely hear about people passing out at a McCain rally (and those are full of old codgers...you're telling me they don't have problems with heat and crowds?) I guess it could be a deal where the media just doesn't report when such things happen at other candidates' rallies...but I find that kind of doubtful.

I'm not cynical enough to think Obama is planting these fainting people in his rallies, but I'm also not naive enough to buy this "oh it's perfectly normal" explanation either.

From what I have gathered people line up outside wherever Obama is to try and get in even if there is no chance and then stand there for hours hoping to shake his hand or whatever. When he spoke at the University of Maryland I heard the line was half a mile long.
