Jupiter's Lament Gospel Version
Oh shit people.
I just realized this could be on the MCIS rerelease. If so my 15+ years with this band will be validated. What such insane track would you want on these diskz? |

yeah, i'm looking forward to this one as well. its really easy to imagine JL as a gospel song.
I'd also like to hear some of the more fleshed-out pastichio medley / gravity demos tunes. Germans in Leather Pants ftw |

i heard billy was being a total dick to iha and d'arcy in the studio that day
you know the verses where he's like "go go go" he rewrote iha's verse as "jap jap jap" and d'arcy's verse as "hoe hoe hoe" it's actually quite saddening. |

Was this even recorded? I thought I remember him saying that he had this as an idea for the song, but that it never went into the production phase. I might be wrong, but it whatever he said about it was in that guitar world interview.

"This is supposed to be the Mellon Collie gospel song, and a rough version even exists with all the band members singing. This version is my home demo, cut on the same morning as 'Stumbleine.'" -BC (Guitar World 1/97)
i don't think a gospel version exists. and the band singing version is as gospel as machina was moutain — as psychedelic as teargarden.. |

The band as a whole, no...but a lot of their music is southern blues flavored and songs like "After Midnight" are clearly heavily influenced by the style.
Can't forget Rare Earth, either. That's Last edited by stumpycat : 09-24-2011 at 02:21 AM. |

I just can't see how gospel would fit in Jupiter's Lament...
