post-rock fans, check this out...

HIGH DEPENDENCY UNIT (HDU) - Sum Of The Few (1996)

heavy doom from New Zealand, excellent record. Quite a strange release for Flying Nun.

huh

the second Suicide album is great (and my favorite)

Way of Life and Why Be Blue are fine too, at least they aren't as bad as Hard and Shrinkwrapped you know

Second one (produced by Ric Ocasek nonetheless) is my favorite too. Plus it comes with a bonus cd of early demos. That's pretty hard to beat. I like Vega's s/t and Collision Drive too. Rockabilly drone FTW. Saturn Strip is really a really goofy pop album but definitely a grower.

Listening to Ilyas Ahmed's "Century of Moonlight"

This is one of my favorite "it's so hot outside I feel like I'm on drugs" albums. Today - more Ilyas Ahmed and Plankton Wat's "Dawn of the Golden Eternity"

i don't know if they call themselves math rock, but listen to those zu people. they have good cred due to collaborations with lots of cool people but their music is just the same old soulless shit
