Default Billy's using the JMP-1 and ADA MP-1 again.

There's a twist though. They're modded by Voodoo Amps.

So that's a pretty uninterrupted period of usage from the late 80's until when they started recording Adore.

Also, how long have Voodoo been offering these mods, how do we know that this isn't way way old news, and that the ones used on the albums weren't Voodoo modded?

Wait. Hasn't he always used the blue dunlop ones?

I mean. My first picks that I bought for my first electric were blue dunlops, because I read these were what Billy uses, and I had no idea about picks so I thought it'd be a good starting point.

right. but i think the custom picks were also blue dunlop tortex like the one above... 1.0mm.

and before anyone pipes up with a smartass comment, pick thickness actually does make an appreciable difference to your sound, especially on a recording.

you might be onto something. i had no idea. but then i'm no guitar pick expert. and that is an euphemism.

i thought the tfe tour pick said 0.9mm, but my memory should not be trusted.

He used a Diezel VH4 from '99-'03. The JMP-1 was still there during the Adore tour but i think they ran them into Marshall JCM and JMP heads instead of the Strategy 500 power amps.

Edit: i misread the quote. Either way i love the Diezel rig.

THe MP-1 was on SD quite a bit. Listen to Silverfuck. It's also on a lot of leads.
When they switched to the JMP-1 live they still used the MP-1 for these songs live: Hummer,Silverfuck and the Gish songs. I think Billy's main lead tone was a patch on the MP-1 during the SD tour. He really started using the JMP-1 heavily in '95 when he switched to the ADA MP-2 preamp for leads. Voodoo has been doing this mod for a while. I saw a guy on Harmony Central with it and he said it makes the preamp sound a bit tighter and gives it more warmth.

The 2 small amps are for the Taylor Acoustics. The PC was probably for the samples he had when he'd trigger them with his midi controller. (1979 drums)

I knew about Silverfuck - I think you mentioned that to me once or twice. I find it hard to pick out the MP1 lead sound, though... I can pick the rhythm sound straight away. SCHWAAAA!
