Smashing Pumpkins - 1998-05-20 - RTVE Studios, Madrid, ES

https://youtu.be/j61YkoWoj38

Quote:
Smashing Pumpkins
RTVE Studios, Madrid, ES

DVD: Pro-Shot DVD

Contents:

- Presentación de José María Rey
- To Sheila
- Once upon a time
- Ava Adore
- Daphne Descends (2 intentos, el primero fallido xD)
- Perfect
- Tear
- Entrevista (Interview)

Notes: Source information is not known for this rip but it's pretty nice quality. This was originally posted on a Spanish Smashing Pumpkins forum in 2008. The interview at the end doesn't have any subs so unless you speak Spanish you're out of luck.

Enjoy.

I bought this off ebay without knowing much about it, so i emailed the
seller and asked for some info. This is what i got in reply:

"Thanks for writing. About all I can tell you about the video is this.
I originally bought it on VHS about 4-5 years ago on ebay (for a pretty penny).
The guy I bought it from, was one of the actual camera guys (not sure which one).
I'd gather that one or both of the masters were run directly to my VHS.
The DVD which you have is straight from my VHS>standalone DVD burner.
As for the type of camera/mics etc, I have no clue."

It's from the adore charity tour and contains a press conference with James
and D'arcy aswell as bits from the show. I haven't really watched it all, but
I guess it's interesting for some people. The quality isn't very good, but
watchable.

enjoy!

I'm quite sure this isn't the whole concert since it is only an hour (58 minutes). But, it's all that was proshot (to my knowledge).

Both versions i have are 2.48GB.

The non-upgrade version doesn't have any lineage.

The notes on the upgrade are as follows:

Quote:
Smashing Pumpkins
January 26th, 1996
Praca Apoteose
Rio de Janerio, Brazil

VHS Master from MTV broadcast -> Standalone transfer -> DVDr-3 -> my PC -> You

GSpot says:
Video: 10080k VBR, NTSC
Audio: AC3 265k

Set:
Where Boys Fear to Tread
Zero
Fuck You
Disarm
Today
Bullet with Butterfly Wings
Thru the Eyes of Ruby
Rocket
Porcelina of the Vast Oceans
Geek U.S.A.
Boys Don't Cry (tease)
Cherub Rock
(Billy and James kick soccer balls into the crowd)
X.Y.U.

TRT: 74:19

Notes:
I recieved this in a snail trade in 2005. This upgrades the no-lineage version which was seeded at Zomb last year. Picture is a little dark. Five-minute chapters.
This show has long been labeled as being on the 27th in Pumpkins trading circles, but Cure, White Zombie, and Steel Pulse tour histories list the show as being on the 26th. Additionally, the person (I would assume the Brazilian taper) lists the show as being the 26th on the generic standalone menu.

I'm guessing some I'm uploading must've been removed for copyright reasons at the some point because I'm surprised they aren't on Youtube. See NickS uploaded a version of this previously but not the complete show.

Technical Info:
Audio One - This is the matrix release and is pcm. It had
to be stretched in order to sync it to the video. The first 40
seconds of this track are from the vhs audio (before
compression) to fill in the silence.

Audio Two - This is the original vhs audio and is in ac3.
I chose to do ac3 so that the video quality could remain
higher and so that I did not have to re-encode the video.

Video - Captured with an ati 8500dv.

The vhs is an unknown gen. Brian Muehlhaus had this to say
on netphoria

I have the complete Storytellers video, even though it isn't really complete.
I have been told that I have one of the lower generations around. Don't know
if that is true, but I got mine from a guy named Jonathan Hunt in 2001 or so.
If I remember correctly, some of the songs they played again aren't on the
video I have, so technically it isn't complete, but I have heard that the
complete video with every song that we have on the audio versions isn't in
any circulation. Don't know if that is true.
Brian

The chapters of this release are messed up because I encoded
the video with open gops. Some chapters start a little into
the song. It doesnt effect anything too greatly.

Credits:
This dvd was made possible thanks to many people both
directly and indirectly. I will try to thank them all now.
Brian Muehlhaus (lent me the low gen tape)

Dead aka Sean Bowen (the original idea for this release)

Smashing Pumpkins - Fruit Bat Salad Vol. 2 (II)

https://youtu.be/gx_eu3o5nXY

Volume II of Fruit Bat Salad. If someone can remember the origin of this one or which show is which, I can add to the description (I've lost the original .txt file over the years).

I believe it was uploaded to the ZOMB and has live performances of each of the songs on the Siamese Dream album in order. There is also a performance with The Frogs tagged on at the end

Part I:
Cherub Rock
Quiet
Today
Hummer
Rocket
Disarm
Soma
Geek USA
Mayonaise
Spaceboy
Silverfuck
Sweet Sweet
Luna

Part II:
The Frogs at Lollapalooza 1994, with Billy on guitar.

these long lens straight ahead tapes are fucking perfect

for me i find most of my issue with enjoying a show or an era is that there's so much of the actual band that's cloaked behind lighting or shitty camerawork [proshots can be way, way worse - they have so many angles they get overzealous. or just have a dumbass style - the musique+ show from this era comes to mind] or bad mixes or whatever. getting to see a show from such an unbiased, pure perspective is wonderful

I got this video from a trade; safely from a VHS transfer, unknown lineage and generation, it came with the whole Pumpkins and another band' show on the same dvd5.
The video came with many flaws and dropouts, and suffers heavily the “thick lights” during the electric part of the set.
The original audio was weak and with gaps and transfers error in the last four songs.

I removed the other band’show and used the space left, remuxing a better, previus circulating audio:
wich has many flaws likewhise (“Skips in BwBW, Dross, Try, and IOTM. Sounds like a transfer error or possibly a disc swap occured between Rock On and HMM and again before Blank Page. Digi-noise in Disarm on all circulating copies” according to splra.org; chatting, and nasty applause near the mic during Speed Kills i tried to hide blending the other audio in it)
but sounded still way better then the other.
(Here is a comparison between the the two audio versionsif it may interest http://www.4shared.com/file/50071999...ud1-aud2_.html)

It’s my first attempt to reauthor a dvd, I tried to left untouch the primal video, just splitting the video-flux of the vob and re-matching it with the new audio (synchronized separately) with muxman..
so I hope it’s ok.

quite watchable recording despite the many flaws (or at least for the first part) but for collectros only I suppose.
Nice show anyway, band in good mood and great audience
here are some pervivew (with still the original audio at this point..)
