I enjoyed TFE, but its been diminishing returns since then he disappears up his arcane rhymes that twixt tedium and boredom.

I liked the concept of TFE, i.e. the shoegaze guitars mixed with programmed beats. That was pretty cool, and some of those guitar sounds were amazing.
It wasn't really enough to make a whole album with though, and the idea had run thin by about halfway through. It needed more variety. Saying that, I've come back to parts of it I hadn't bothered with before, e.g. the chorus of Pretty Pretty Star is something really nice. |

I no longer financially support this individual in any way, shape, or form. He's built his final mansion with my money.

I loved the sounds of TFE, but some of the songs were MEH. I can't handle pretty pretty star.
the last two acoustic albums have some nice moments. he should mix it up and keep doing them, there's gems that make them worth it. |

I did not like the fat b0lly solo album, although TFE was really good. I remember getting into the show for free back in 2005 or so.

I loved TFE. I thought the production was great, Billy's vocals were really solid and the mix was good too. The songs were melodic and well written. The b-side "Tilt" had such a great sound and overall melody/feel to it as well. BC should of left off "to love somebody" and kept Tilt on the album.

Both TFE and Ogilala became things I could appreciate and even like a little bit because I saw him live a few times on each of the tours. The TFE tour was odd because there was no SP/Zwan stuff, but the visuals were good and it put some life into the album. Plus at that point there was no SP, so it was all we could get BC-wise.
Meanwhile, the Ogilala shows I saw were unreal - the string of four shows in LA where he played like 80 different songs and some amazing deep cuts. He played Ogilala in full each night to open the show, but it didn't really phase me and allowed me to just relax and settle in while I waited for the meat of the show. So now, those songs do the same for me. (And "Archer" is amazing.) Cotillions, meanwhile - I don't think that any number of shows could have done that for me. Thing is just too damn long. Like CYR, if it had been hacked down to a 40 minute album, it may be doable. In that way, I guess it's kind of like TFE. It's a one trick pony... and 73 Minutes (CYR) or 62 minutes (Cotillions) is just too much time on the horse. |
