Avril Lavigne's first album is awesome.
Death Cab is an excellent band.
Uh.
Muse sucks. Like, MASSIVELY. I can't even listen to them.
Radiohead totally lives up to the hype.
The Pumpkins are one of the best bands ever to break into the mainstream.

I can accept most musical views, other than when people like manafactured radio garbage.

Also I really, really just do not understand people that don't like The Beatles. I mean like... what? I can understand if you don't love them as much as everyone else, but just flat out disliking them, after adequately sampling their music? How does that even happen?

I agree that there are shoegazer bands that were better than MBV. Ride's Nowhere actually came out before Loveless as did Kitchens of Distinction's Strange Free World. They deserve credit for releasing the first shoegazer albums. Slowdive and Swervedriver were also superior bands.

I like Radio Dept.'s "Lesser Matters" better than all of these.

i haven't really heard TBS but thrice have definitely been trying harder since they started doing their elemental concept albums. a lot of variety and attention to aesthetic. i don't think they're great or anything but they've improved markedly since that first record.

I saw thrice live once and was severely underwhelmed. They did a lot of what I'm assuming is their early material, but played some songs off the "water" album...mostly I-Can-Be-Deep-Too elctro-garbage. I did think that the concept of doing a set of albums based on elements was a cool idea though.

When you say "thinking man's emo", are you refering to The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me? Because I wouldn't consider that "Emo" at all.

I gave Dookie a listen today, and was shocked to find that the lyrical content currently speaks to me more personally than I'd like to admit. Ironic, considering it was the first album I ever bought, years and years ago.
Aside from that depressing fact, it still fucking rocks. It's probably the best pop/punk album ever.

did you forget about that other mbv record, you know, that one that's about as good as loveless and that sort of came out before it?

Don't go lumping The Colour and Shape in with their third album and what has come after. It is as good if not better than their first album.

i used to think this too but now i think it's more that i prefer the sound on LTT to any of nirvana's records.

yeah i guess you're right [about lumping it in w/ the 3rd, not about it being as good as the first]. i like the 3rd about as much though.
