Default cherub rock revisited

http://subtlefish.tumblr.com/post/37...mashed-pumpkin

It's been a very long time since I have played anything smashing pumpkins related but for some reason I was feeling nostalgic this weekend and dashed off this recording of cherub rock (not even a song I ever had a particular fondness for). I took quite a few small liberties with the lyrics. Hate it or love it.

While you may have taken "a few small liberties" with the lyrics...you certainly took more with the music itself! Very...different. It's really difficult to say that the essence of the songs is the same at all, really. For some reason I am reminded of that Celebrex ad, with the hypnotic guitar loop that plays in the backgroud for all two-and-a-half minutes.

You are all more than entitled to think it completely sucks, but I am a little baffled as to how you cannot hear the connection to the original. The vocal lines are pretty much exactly the same, and the chords are exactly the same, only two are arpeggiated and a couple of other ones have added tones. The chordal skeleton is left completely intact.

Plus, you all must have the most narrow of all possible musical palettes if the closest music comparisons you can make are Tool, Placebo, and Celebrex...

Whoa whoa whoa buddy. Let's not be slinging around big words that Netphorians don't understand... and most of these folks listen to "Sing Along with Raffi" as they fall asleep at night, I hope you know.
