Fuck Mike. Really fuck him.
Billy lay down on floor was embarasing. He cants fake things like this. The band stills sucking, pretty much. Nicole was hot as shit. And I hope at least Jeff had been eating Nicole and so this band worths for something and is not a total waste of time, life and perhaps money... |

XYU is a strange choice of song to play as it's so negative and I thought it wouldn't sit well with the Billy of 2012. I agree it seemed forced, the lying down with the belly spilling out was a little embarrassing to say the least. Seemed like a bad cover version much like Geek USA was, SACK THE DRUMMER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

I think that's a Mikey Burns thing rather than a "the band" thing. Think about it, most of his musical career has been spent with one of the best rock drummers of his time behind him.

Interesting that they're playing Neverlost now - I still maintain that it's the only Zeitgeist song that sounds like 'classic' SP.
Also I notice Everlasting Gaze is in D flat, not C. Last edited by brendo_91 : 05-27-2012 at 11:36 AM. |

I've been somewhat of a Mikey supporter so far. My biggest problem is his drum tone. The ending of TEG with Jim was always my favorite part of the song. Mike sounds like he's been MIDI programmed by a 10 year old playing it.

Yeah. But I mean, Nicole is grooving away just fine here - she missed a couple of note changes in the TEG chorus and just held the root... but yeah. You know the bit surely, "And through us all" doo-doo-doo-doooo-do-do "Into us all..."... yeah. My favourite bit of that song probably, haha.
And the aforementioned keychange. So this is probably a song that is going to shit me on tour. Plus the "I'm a little teacup" pose during the rant. |

I have a legitimate headache after watching that. Billy has some ok moments, but for the most part his singing has become even more grating and monotone.. He sounds tired and awful.
And I can't believe it, but mike has been playing with this band for 3 years now, and he hasn't improved a bit. He sounds just as bad as he did in that silly audition video. It's just high testosterone rock power drums all the fucking time. No subtlety. No feel, no dynamic. And he plays that fucking sextuplet rhythm fill all the FUCKING TIME. Nicole sounds like shit, but I can't tell if it's just because she's playing in front of a really bad drummer.. Throws her timing completely off. I'd like to hear her in front of a proper drummer. And Jeff. He has some nice moments, but other moments where he plays guitar like mike plays drums. Just completey detached from his surroundings and playing with all the rock power he can, standing in everyone else's way. This band is a complete mess of cliche technical rock power moments.. And bc is too tired to keep up. This band sounds more and more like a bar rock cover band every year. And the screams? I'm concerned about his voice e erything I hear him do that now.. But may e I'm just too old to get excited about a 45 year old man screaming the same lines he did better at 15 years ago. |

Sounds like a few fair weather fans need a big ol fat titty to suck on.
James is an acoustic hipster homo that got lucky with APC and D'arcy is a drug addicted crackwhore. |

Proper as in a drummer that doesn't slow down and speed up the tempo in a 4 measure time frame. A drummer that listens to the other instruments in the band beyond his/her own playing. A drummer that attempts to support and lock in with the bassist. I could go on. Ill check these out momentarily.

Of all of Mike's deficiencies, I don't think I've seen this particular one articulated before, but it's spot on. I swear on some songs, it sounds like he listened to the original recording once, was like "I got this" and then proceeded to play whatever the fuck he wanted.
