I always assumed the marriage fell apart in the wake of the massive MCIS tour and all that time spent apart. Seems like a lot of the Adore songs are about her (blank page for one) and his mother. As for who the lyrics are about, Love was his most significant relationship that we know of during that time period aside from his wife. And I can only assume that someone like her would be capable of inspiring such ire. There were always rumors that he was one of the other men in her marriage. We can only speculate though. From her comments to the press a year or two, Courtney seemed to think a lot of the songs were about her too. When he mentioned that "Luna" was written about Courtney in the SD reissue booklet...geez, talk about putting a black mark on one of your prettiest songs. |

A lot of the speculation on the songs seemingly directed at women are based entirely on only what we know, 99% of which comes from Corgan or Courtney themselves
For all we know some of these songs coulda been about this girl http://www.feelnumb.com/wp-content/u...q4kfz3d0mf.jpg |

A few other dishonorable mentions: It's light To bring the light I fought with all my might With light Oh bring the light Light Bring the light I never felt so good and right But tonight You'll never need another sound Oh bring the light The skies are buzzing and 51 stars and faith and milk and I'm drinking filth and disease oh pretty please I'm begging freedom There's life to be blinded servants and candy Before we paid and then we'll pay some more do ya know the score cause I'm so fucking bored I don't mind what you're running Cause you and me we're just something Don't just hang what you're running on I don't mind the sound alone |

I never understood the relative love people had for BTL. Lyrically it's woeful and even the solo does nothing for me, it's like a Brian May tribute act.

Yeah, lyrically it’s pathetic. Like Billy was just rhyming every word he could with “light.” I do like the solo but it’s so short that it doesn’t have any lasting impact.

The solo is seriously over the top amazing, otherwise it's a cool concept cause it's sort of different for the pumpkins, but done very poorly

Yeah, I would agree with that. Like, United States comes close to being a great epic but it still feels kinda hollow overall because a lot of it just feels like Billy playing with the volume knobs on his guitar. I still really like Starz and COLG but I wouldn't rank either in my top 50 Pumpkins songs, maybe not even in my top 100. And while the solo work on Tarantula is amazing and the chorus is pretty cool, the lyrics in the verses are pathetic, as mentioned earlier.

If you listen to "mix 13" I think from the reissue, he pretty clearly says rape. I know there's always been a lot of debate, and in the CD booklet it says break, but I've sort of come to the understanding that he's actually saying rape and the liner notes just toned it down to avoid controversy

2. Yep, however he did famously work with a certain Roy Thomas Baker, one of the jokers responsible for Zeitgeist. |

Also, back to the original topic, these lyrics always bugged me:
narrow marrow silent sparrow It's like he was sitting there, looking at Rhymezone for words that rhymed with sparrow. He should have kept going. Pharoah tarot Red wheelbarrow Harrow yarrow Ronan Farrow |

Anyway though, I've never particularly liked Sparrow either, but it's probably more for those opening rhymes than anything else. |

had to google this song as well, not even the song title rang a bell. I only heard the Teargarden songs a single time, but all of them in one go while driving. The impression was powerful enough to last to this day.

Yeah, I didn't spend much time on any of the songs off of Turd-shartin' by Kaleidyscoop. Song for a Son was pretty good but still sound like Billy's pathetic attempt at writing his obligatory "Stairway" wannabe song (I think all rock bands do this at some point).

Split the difference! Billy is actually saying “I wanna rake you” because like any good Trump supporter, Billy thinks that’s how you put out a 100-acre wildfire.
