Default Post your favorite 80's soft-rock songs

I've always been a big 90's guy, but I think the 80's has it beat. A lot of the music is timeless and sounds as great as it did then as it does today. You can't say the same for a genre like Grunge. This is just a perfect song.

We were talking about pop-rock gold the other day, well this song just hits the spot. It just feels good to listen to. Awesome production and melody. Great songwriting

You Belong to the City would be soft rock? It just sounds like new wave / synth pop to me. It's not too far from Duran Duran or Tears for Fears or Depeche Mode. When I think of 80s soft rock I think Christopher Cross, Michael Mcdonald, Eddie Money or Rod Stewart. Or other stuff by Glenn Frey but certainly not that song.

I suppose it's technically not. But it plays on this soft-rock channel I listen to so I decided to i n c l u d e it

It's funny how Genesis were such a horrible awful band but Peter Gabriel wound up having an amazing respectable solo career while Chicago were a great band but they spawned shitty horrible solo careers like Peter Cetera.

I dunno, I actually kinda dig some of Peter Ceteras solo stuff. I picked up an LP of his greatest hits and there's some nice stuff. Don't get me wrong, it's 80's cornball to the max, but sometimes that's the kind of music that hits the spot for me. Like if I'm reading a book before bed 80's soft rock just hits the spot and acts as nice background music. Or if I'm going on a relaxing walk in the sun or something sometimes Peter Ceteras blend of soft rock just feels good.

there's only one way to do 80s pop-rock and that's by going full retard, which can only happen with Billy Ocean

This thread is like Acid in that I can feel brain cells frying from the thought of these songs, let alone actually listening to them.

o.k. IndyGirl saves the thread with the Henley one. I think the trip has leveled off a bit now, I'm feeling better. It was pretty bad for a moment there though...the sap was too much to bear, it was tripping me out.
