“As a thank you for supporting the Smashing Pumpkins Record Club (SPRC) this year, Billy went digging in the vaults and found this beautiful holiday song called “Have Faithe, Be Merrie.” We hope you enjoy it!"

I thought that was total BS that he went digging in the vaults for that song since the singing was more circa 2011 than the way he sang prior to 2011. So it was a newly sung song with vibrato and dropped consonants. Bah humbug!

Christmastime is not a great SP song, but it's a lot more tolerable than 99% of Christmas music.

FUCK christmas music

I tend to think the words "for you" are kind of important. He's singing about how the kids he's addressing are about to get the Christmas he always dreamed of but never had.

It's a nice one. I've listened to it on Christmas day here and there, though I don't really celebrate it anymore.

Yes. Speaking of which, does anyone know if there is somewhere online that still has all the McMurderson videos?

Once more, with feeling, click on the 'Sara Lee' bit. It's BC in a grocery aisle, although I do swear there was once where she was beaned by the bottle to Rocket.

I love Christmastime. It is better song than anything released after 2007 by SP.
And among all the xmas songs, Christmastime is my second one favourite. Only Last Christmas wins.

If you listen a lot to Monuments and Oceania, well I think you shoudnt write music articles anymore.
Write about cooking or quantic energy but not music.

Literally every Christmas season, I hear that played in the mall or some public place atleast once. Sometimes up to 5 times or more. I once heard it at Walmart and Macy's on the same day.

Other than maybe 1979, it has more public recognition that any other Pumpkins song.
ive heard his cover of landslide a few times over the years in lowes, kohls and a walmart

Christmastime is way more popular than I possibly imagined.

QUICK POLL- do any Brits like it? We tend to like our Christmas music a bit rougher or sadder over here (Slade, Wizzard, Wham!)

I agree when you remember Billy's sad childhood it does give it a certain poignancy, although musically I still think it's unforgivable.

Irish so the same tastes I guess. I can't stand the Mariah Carey type songs, or the ones that try to make things real serious (mostly the American singers).

But a good ol knockabout fun Christmas song isn't a bad thing. There's been some good alternatives to the Wham and Slade types recently, what with the likes of the Smith and Burrows album, and Mark Kozelek released a Christmas covers album recently too. And then there's songs like River by Joni Mitchell.

I like the SP song as it suggests an alternate universe where Adore is a happy album.

All I want for Christmas is the last great addition to the pop-culture-entering classic Christmas song canon and I will fight anyone that disagrees.

Especially if they to argue for the Darkness.
