G.L.O.W. radio premiere
G.L.O.W. will be broadcast on Q101 in Chicago on Monday morning... at least according to the station.

Interesting. So, Guitar Hero World Tour won't truly be the official source for hearing a studio version of the song, now.

This song really isn't even THAT great. It's another one of their "fun" songs, in the vein of Zero, kind of.
It doesn't suck, but I'm not pumped for it, either. Superchrist was balls to the wall madness and the American Gothic songs were pretty good. This band still has it; Billy's good at both knowing when to fuck shit up and just have fun. |

That's because Netphoria is usually dumb when it comes to this kind of thing.
AG was really unexpected after Zeitgeist. It's a good disc. |

American Gothic wasn't too bad but it wasn't too great either, kind of like G.L.O.W. imo. it's not something to wow the world and put them on top again but i think it'll be interesting none the less.

so like the thread announcing/assuming a G.L.O.W. leak is turning into an American Gothic appreciation thread?
very true to form, netphoria. zeitgeist made me like zwan, too. |

interstign to hear what the the studio version will sound like. with bjorn and all. more synth than expected perhaps, relative to the liver version. we shall see. that basss line could be synth, if you think of it like an EYE or something and consider the prouduers.
or i'm completely wrong. |

anyway i rather doubt they'd use synth bass on a song recorded just for Guitar Hero. |

You know, when I wrote that, I was wondering if anyone would be stalker-like enough to remember that I even posted that and then find it, and I thought "Nahhh..."
Oh yeah, this is Netphoria. |

It pains me to say this, but after hearing the live version of this new SP release, it is probably the first one I have only a vague interest in hearing. Superchrist really changed my view of SP, and it wasn't for the better. I was kind of hoping it was a blip in the SP soundscape.

I agree. There were actually a few aspects of Zeigeist that gave me hope. Doomsday Clock, United States, and, though it took a lot of time to hit me, Pomp + Circumstances... they all, in some weird way, reminded me of things I liked about the Pumpkins of the past. The rest of the album was kind of a miss with me. Then Superchrist came out, and I was left feeling... disappointed. Like, it's just such a shallow, boring song. It's loud. It's rocking. And that's about it. The main riff just isn't very interesting or creative. Just some repeating chords with Jimmy pounding away like a monkey. Where's the depth that made the Pumpkins the Pumpkins? I started trying to convince myself that it was all just a phase, and that the next material would be a lot more inventive and groundbreaking. Enter G.L.O.W. It has it's moments, but the "Come on" stuff was beaten to death back in the days of Zwan. The bass is sick, yes. And the guitar riff, although "borrowed" from Pastichio Medley's demo material, is pretty cool. But the lyrics and the overall feel of the song aren't very deep. It feels like a joke of a song, to be honest. |

this has been discussed before, but is the main reason "old" fans are having a problem with SP2 - The band are trying to distance themselves from this sound, and expect us fans to evolve along with them.
To be honest by removing the reason I loved the band (complex, thoughtfull and beautiful songs) they also removed my interest. |

I would like GLOW a hell of a lot better if he didn't just keep repeating "c'mon c'mon c'mon can you feel it?"

I just wonder how the ending will sound if he doesn't have Lisa and Ginger doing backing vocals on CAN YOU FEEL IT NOW! I predict it will be ugly.

I heard Q101 at lunch mention this release on Monday, and I came here expecting the whole thing to have leaked already. I'm surprised it hasn't. I haven't listened to the live versions yet, I'll wait til I hear the studio one first.
