thank god my front door is on the side of the house

i like halloween and it's fun to hear the kids outside but i can't deal with groups of kids like that, it makes me anxious

One year, I was giving out candy. You know how you use that higher-register "kid voice" to talk to children? Well, for one trick-or-treater, I said "here you go!" in that tone, only to look up and see that I used the kid voice on a grown-ass teen. Taller than me.

It was kind of embarrassing using that patronizing voice toward someone that old, but you know what, if you're that old and apparently trick-or-treating alone, you get the kid voice. You're too old to be doing this shit.

Totally agree. I think a reasonable cut off is like 13/puberty

im very ungrown up but i haven't celebrated halloween in years. I'm not sure i ever did as an adult really. Even when i knew people, i woudn't show up for halloween parties. Its not like i was gonna get in costume.

A coworker's own Halloween plans fell through, so he invited me to come over and hang. I assumed he would text me when he was ready, but now I'm thinking he expected me to text him. He just now sent me a text saying "it's okay, it's getting late anyway."

I like how this is the first Halloween in about a decade that I could had done something social on and then I fucked it up. Oh well, watching stand-up on YouTube now.

I went to my first halloween party on friday, which here turned out to be a regular party with a few people in (kinda lazy) costumes.
Made me feel not terrible for not coming up with anything too elaborate and showing up with just some gashes and bruises.
Got called zombie a lot.
