pumpkins camp was clearly not pleased with the reaction so now they're pissing out singles like it was two-thousand-and-teargarden. it'll more than likely be notably different than being beige, at least, if past single releasing habits are anything to go by

So I guess that's the new band logo for the era. It's just straight up Billy's writing, isn't it? It reminds me of Gish, but sloppier The color shit they've been doing with the single covers is weird |

According to Billy, isn't he so pleased that the album and song are receiving rave reviews? This seems like a really reactionary thing to do. He should at least have a music video ready if he's going for another single (since he obviously is looking for a "hit" with the millennials).

He did, but now he already has two single out and still no video. To be perfectly honest, I think he's terrified about how the public (not the critics) will receive him, which is why it seems like he's scrambling to make another move.

Isn't this the same thing he did for the Adore reissue?
Send out tracks to different music sites in the lead-up to release? |

I like to believe this is a game. If a song is well received, howard gets to live.

The cover art leads me to believe that this will be a rocker. Could be cool hearing Billy rip it with Tommy

looks like the SP "camp" weren't pleased with the Being Beige reception and are quickly trying to take things in a different direction.
One has to think this song will be on the opposite side of the spectrum, which can be only be a good thing. |

it's mastered like a peanut butter & jelly sandwich that was sat on for 5 minutes but i think the song is really fucking good
don't know how much of that is the "pumpkins vocal effect" they clearly put on here but i'm not gonna speculate (too much) |

Better than Beige.
Guitars are mostly fine, I like them though have to say lead guitar is a bit boring at times. Drumming to me doesn't feel to mesh quite right with it, especially around the 1:20 mark. Lee's drumming is obviously better than anything we would have got from Byrne, but naturally I feel if this had JC behind the drums it would have taken the song to another level, far above. If he ever comes back into the fray I'd like to see what he could do with this song. Lyrics, uninspired as everything else since Zeitgeist but I never had any hopes for them. Vox, yeah not too bad, getting better I'd say. |

"One And All," debuting on HuffPost Entertainment, is the second track released from the Smashing Pumpkins' new album, "Monuments to an Elegy." It builds quickly to a pulsing chorus, in which Billy Corgan sings, "One and all, we are, we are so young / We're young, we're young."
"I basically sang the whole song the first time I wrote it," Corgan told HuffPost Entertainment. "It had written itself." As the longtime Smashing Pumpkins frontman, Corgan has made waves in the past for his aversion to media and fans, though that never really mattered to him. But with the release of 2012's critically-acclaimed "Oceania" and "Being Beige," the first released song from "Monuments to an Elegy," people are praising Corgan in ways they hadn't in years. "It's been a long time since someone patted me on the back," he said. "Monuments to an Elegy," due Dec. 9, is part of "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope," the super-album the band started in 2010 with "Songs For A Sailor." It will wrap up with next year's "Day For Night." Though Corgan has said over and over that he has no intention of touring with the sole purpose of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the beloved album, "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" -- "I'm not interested in promoting nostalgia," he said -- the Smashing Pumpkins are finalizing tour dates to support "Monuments to an Elegy." According to Corgan, they'll begin scheduling gigs surrounding the album's release in December. |

not interested to promote nostalgia, really? so what was the 2013 tour?
"people are praising Corgan in ways they hadn't in years" - since he claimed the same for Oceania? jfc |

Even though this one is a "rocker", it beiger than Beige. Sounds pretty darn disposable. Paint-by-numbers pumpkins, without a memorable riff or hook.

I don't want to be negative, but I don't think Billy can make decent melodies anymore.
