I suspect it has been trimmed slightly but it's there. It's not a good idea because the fringe is the warp. You damage the integrity of the rug by doing that. I have a Moroccan rug with braided fringe on one side.

It does damage the value, but a lot of antique rug owners know that it just comes with the territory. Especially if you're a cat owner!
 They'll paw at that shit into eternity :P |

This is a fairly rustic rug, which fits our decor and lifestyle right now. I typically like rustic, with a lot of inconsistencies and unique colors. I picked up a really nice one that's still in my trunk. It's almost too perfect for me

My best, or like the one where I probably got the best deal was a contemporary "kazak" rug. Like if you go to Macy's on 34th (I believe the only one in NYC?) they have piles of these same style rugs for sale. Retail on this one according to paper attached was $6k and I got it for $250. Unused, new. The woman didn't like it as decor in her gray and white McMansion. It's in my parents' living room rn

fucking eh. It's amazing the cheap price that you can find exquisite rugs at. It's like it's an unknown discrepancy in the collectors market. When I was a kid my folks bought a rug at the local auction that was appraised at 5000 beans for 400 dollars.

Yes the market gets muddled. It's not exactly easy to sell something appraised at whatever for whatever. The fair price is somewhere in between. But for sure I won't bring in anymore new rugs with glue and latex and flame retardents.
