yeah in periods of stress it can definitely fuck with you

as i mentioned in some other thread i've been having lots of "lets reflect on all the shit i've done that i horribly regret" kinda nights. but smoking moderately and in small doses can take the edge off and feel pretty good. especially with a beer.

DS9 is on a different level overall to me. TNG is more inconsistent. DS9 is a work of art, I love the series-long plot arcs, and it has the best characters

i'm going to watch tos & voy because i've never seen either (thats the goal at least) but after being exposed to "Faith in the Heart" the Enterprise theme i will never view that series

i think TNG hits higher highs but DS9 is extremely consistent especially for a 26 episode series. i mean there's extremely bad episodes, the one where molly falls in a time hole and becomes feral is my 2nd most hated star trek episode i've ever watched. #1 is that TNG episode about the warp drive destroying space time & #3 is probably planet blackman when he steals the white lady. But thats the thing, early TNG is only really watchable for camp and/or completeness sake for two entire seasons

TOS and Voy are both worth a watch. Voyager seems more dated than DS9 to me for some reason, like it FEELS like the 90s.

Enterprise, to be frank, is a flaming pile of shit. In so many ways I just can't understand what they were thinking or what they were going for. There are some good episodes but the series just isn't worth watching to pull out the few golden nuggets. If you aren't going to watch it anyway, you should look up how it ends because it is just. embarrassing. I can't even.

I think I agree with this. Most of the best, most profound Star Trek episodes are from TNG.

the african tribal planet episode holy fucking moly dude nothing can be worse than that

the rationale is that even you can give points to birth of a nation for inventing the tracking shot and all that stuff, so *at least* the african planet episode has a 3 arc plot that makes sense. The warp episode is from season 7 and its written by braga and its all over the place and makes a lot of narrative errors that are unforgivable imo and then a huge loreturd they saddle the universe with except that they never mention it again.

The feral molly timehole is offensive to me for so many reasons, primarily that i hate feral child stories & that its just more unnecessary suffering for miles for no fucking reason but it rocketed to #2 for the ending, which just really underscored UNNECESSARY SUFFERING

so yeah even if that racist episode was bewilderingly racist and its climax seemed to be filmed from another era & time it at least had structural integrity & didn't entirely waste 48 minutes

i think yar's death is 4 because not only does she die bad, the blob is dreadfully boring and the fucking funeral goes on forever for a character they never ever utilized correctly, ultimately she should have been like Ro but they never gave her any asses to kick and embarassing nerds can't write a rape victim without her blurting out RAPE PLANET. Thats why its so fucking frustrating because there were flashes of a great character and apparently everyone was really excited about her when they deved the series but yeah, bad stunts, relying on data for most of that, overlap wth worf, no clear role on the ship, RAPE PLANET it was all smashed together poorly.

Then Ron Moore brings her back to kill her good in yesterday's entriprise BUT NO she is actually KIDNAPPED BY ROMULANS and forced into rape slavery and thats how we have Sela for no reason! i mean holy shit you guys

it's sunday and i have 5 days off and i have beer.

i made an awesome salad with mixed greens, mushrooms, cucumber, feta, hard boiled eggs and raspberry vinagrette dressing. it is the bomb and also weighs about 3 lbs

i made my own granola this morning with oats, sunflower seeds, pecans, almonds, brown sugar, maple syrup, olive oil, salt, and an egg white. then i spread it on parchment paper in a cooking sheet and cooked it for 40 minutes.

next time it needs more wet ingredients and to be sweeter. but it's good with greek yogurt.
