as for these new songs, fucking great sonically & performance-wise
i actually want to revisit these multiple times & play them for other people

I agree. I find myself actually wanting to revisit these songs and play them again. They actually evoke some atmosphere and mood and feeling. Whereas Cyr feels like I’m listening to some embarrassing soulless product.

honestly i hope it was just done on an ekit. what a waste of time and effort to put samples on top

one of the great things about JC is how amazing he tunes his drums. why the fuck would i want to listen to a sample

Hearing this really makes me bummed about the new SP album. What a waste for Billy to have Jimmy’s talents be so processed and boring... rather than letting him sound like himself.

Today is the day. I don't see Honor available for purchase on the Make Records site, but here is a link to Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/Honor-Jimmy-C...s%2C186&sr=8-6

Edit:

Unless you have a strong distaste for jazz, I suspect that most people here will enjoy Honor far more than any of the four songs we've heard so far from Shiny 2. Genre-wise, Honor sits closer to The Parable than Life Begins Again, but has a few more rock influences than the former.

These are really good. I don't really feel strong either way about the new Pumpkins but you can inject JCC right into my veins.

I heard a rough cut of track 4 back in 2015. I can't speak to the other three. Regardless of when they were recorded, these songs are so much more inspiring than the new SP!

Boz should let Mohler produce the Pumpkins . It sounds like a real band. The drums sound amazing.

Literally better than Rick Rubin's bullshit.

so so good

it's almost like part of the SP we loved was founded on this sort of musicality

and you can't even argue like 'jimmy's tired of playing acoustic drums' or whatever cause why would his side project be this fucking excellent

honestly if you replaced the wind instruments and warbly jazz piano thing on this with guitar it's the best SP record since MCIS

Always loved the sound of Jimmy's rim shots, just even more sublime with this record. Or is it the area of the snare which makes that real nice twang.

Three songs in, and this is absolutely incredible.

Jimmy 1 : SP 0

In fact, Chamberlin Complex by a million.

yeah this is so satisfying in practically every way the new SP is not - but not to make everything JCC vs SP on its own merits it's just some really beautiful stuff with Jimmy just destroying the drums in the best way

when that trumpet comes in on track 3 i just about had an "eargasm" as well

This is great.

Something is definitely wrong with the “band” when the drummer is doing this and the band is putting out Cyr.

found this on reddit, someone got to talk to JC after a show

Quote:
I think I asked him if he missed his SD-era mullet.

He said something like, “Even if I could grow it, Corgan wouldn’t let me do that these days, anyway”.
love the idea that corgan dictates the band members hair

insert vieuphoria clip here

I wish Jimmy would make a whole album with Rob Dickinson from Catherine Wheel on vocals. The two songs he sang on Life Begins Again were ca$h money.
