I don't see how ZG wouldn't give you the same feeling, that's just me
both these releases are "embarrassing" fan only type of releases you won't catch me blasting it with the windows down |

I thought a type of deal where a mutli-plat rockstar would do a big Soundcloud-esque release showing his process bad and good was pretty neat
I wasn't looking at these songs like "wow now it's shameful to be an SP fan" because Corgan released some shitty solo music with the name on his introduction to HTML website |

I'm surprised at the positivity surrounding Teargarden.
I revisited a few of the tracks and it's just as bad as I remembered. Seems like he had terrible writers block or something. The material is really straight forward and basic. Nothing to sink your teeth into at all and the melodies themselves are uninteresting... Not to mention the terrible singing and drumming. |

Such rabid defense of disagreeable mediocrity. If I had to pick 2 "salvageable" songs they would be Tom Tom and only the guitar solo in Song For A Son

Astral Planes, Stich In Time and Owata come close...
Man, that first E.P really was brutal. It's too bad cause he seemed like he really wanted to take on the dinosaur major labels so I imagined we'd see his best work as a fight against them but man... What a let down that was. |

Songs sounded a lot better live. ESPECIALLY those early Freak performances.

Don't get me wrong, it's all complete ass.
But in Astral Planes, the chorus of cacophonous multi-layered guitars sounds like something that could have been awesome in an SP1 song. It's the same throughout Bill's post-2003 work - there are moments that remind you how much better this music might've turned out in the original band. |

I used to love TbK, but then I realized half the tracks I loved were actually American Gothic or b-sides from Zeitgeist, and then upon closer inspection, TbK was just alright.
Had it been released as an album, I believe it would have been poorly received. The fact that it was released sort of in a throwaway fashion kept critics from judging it as harshly, because when you release an album, you're calling for the spot light. In fact, I think Billy knew the new material was not going to win any new fans, so he tried to call it an EP, but since James was in the mix, there was pressure to cast it as a comeback album, so that happened, and it flopped in the spot light that it didn't want. It goes to show, if Billy wants to play another publicity card, he had better have some avant garde experimental art rock ready to go, no more of this phoned in filler material. |
