So like I've been finding hella links twixt. Dunsany (Edward Moreton John Drax Plunkett Lord Baron of Dunsany) and the likes of Tolkien Lewis and Lovecraft. But just yesterday I found one to le Guin (she is the best)! So stoked.

Check it: In Idle Days on the Yann the narrator finds in the city of Perdondaris a gate made out of a single slab of ivory. It used to be the tusk of a supermassive beast (originl godzilla?) that eventually overthrows Perdondaris in a day. And in the Earthsea Cycle the main door to the Wizard's school on Roke is carved out of a single dragon's tooth.

Ursula says Dunsany was a major influence. I am so happy.

Labelle The Outsider is a great place to start with HP. It is short and very fantastic and quite dark. But remember he wrote this stuff over a hundred years ago so it might come across as a little corny to us who have been so desensitized by horror gore violence in art.
