You can't substitute in shite in sayings like 'holy shit' or 'i don't give a shit' or as a replacement for 'shit' in a sentence like 'oh yknow i was just lazing around and shit' or "i had planned to go into town and buy some shit" - this is a cardinal sin.

The word only has it's effect when used in a context like "THAT'S FUCKING SHITE", "you're talking shite" and hard guys can get away with things like "AHM GONNAE KICK THE SHITE OUTTA YOU YA WEE DOSS CUNT" but generally shit should be used in this latter case.
