It could have been a really fun guitar jam if James' parts were on the studio version, even if it still wasn't the most well crafted song. Really boggles my mind after seeing that performance.

Boy Iha somehow managed to outdo even his early 90s British TV performance in terms of looking about as apathetic as a human with a guitar on a stage can possibly look

Studio versions always sound more bland than live performances.

So if you are on the fence about going to a concert, that should give you some motivation.

Corgan definitely let Iha take the nice guitar solos on this performance, no idea why these wouldn't have been included in the studio track as it may have saved it to some degree. May have just been an after thought but nonetheless it was nice seeing James rocking out.
Jimmy's drums sounded great, not sure I heard Jeff at all.

Did anyone else notice Billy struggling during the verse parts as though him and Jimmy slipped out of the pocket for a split second and then right back in?

i don't know they did a pretty damn good job of keeping blandness levels high on this one

Maybe adding a 4th guitarist to the next tour will do the trick

This was actually really damn good, didn't expect that to happen.

thoughts--

1- I love that jeff's been demoted to the other side of the stage and James is in his rightful place.. also James got all the leads and he fucking ruled at it. Why was that left off the studio version? IT MAKES THE SONG SO MUCH BETTER!!

2- Jimmy kills it and any naysayer is wrong imo. His playing is just top fucking notch and it makes it pretty clear why he may have had reservations about Darcy joining the tour.. he's been playing at his best for the past 20 years at a solid pace, darcy hasn't. Jimmy deserves a bassist that can hold it together.. and if they were only willing to give her a couple of songs on stage, I can see why.

3- JAMES!!! HE RULED!!

4- This ''look'.. the clothes.. those are the best clothes that band has worn on stage in a long, long time. the new Corgan zero outfit looks cool, which has got to be hard for someone in their 50's.. james looks sharp and jimmy's killing it too.

5- all camera's were on the original 3.. no shots of jack or jeff. Jeff doesn't need to be there, at all.. whoever said James was going to take a back seat can suck their own dick (fuzzyroes, right?)

6- still don't care for the song but i also don't hate it based on seeing them play it live.

Sounded better live but still a dumb song. Jimmy looks effortless. James looks bored. It’s like old times.

Oh. And Jeff!

Some of the Iha bits are in the studio version but are so buried in the mix as to be barely audible.

Hot damn, Iha really does kick ass! Just that sound, the style, sounds like Pumpkins again!

Can't believe they didn't let him add some of that shit on the studio version.

additional thoughts--

1- billy needs to put some more air behind that voice. he sounds tired here. or nervous? i dunno whats up.

2- someone put a blonde wig on jack so he at least looks interesting and they can at least *fake* the darcy angle.

I've said this before and ill say it again with confidence, jimmy alone makes paying the ticket price worth it. Any show with him behind the kit is a good one. anyone that saw the band live with mike byrne should ask for their fucking money back. maybe this song isn't great but this band DOES sound great live. having jimmy there and james playing with his signature style makes up for billy's diminishing voice.

Billy is by far the weakest link in that performence

They need to fire Billy. Bring back D'arcy and hire another better singer who writes better lyrics in 2018
