the Rockpalast persuation *UPDATE: DVD Added*
==================================
Crystallization - DVB Pumpkins ================================== This might just be the only disc of it's kind. It contains lossless audio AND video Pumpkins, which remains something of a rarity to this day. Though the quality vary between the clips, it represents the best available source, at least as of yet, for each one of them. They are by all but stringent academic standards identical to the respective broadcasts sent out in the first place. But this is not enough. Loads of greatness awaits, most any Pro Video would've had or could've had a source broadcast just as great, wasted on vhs or dvdrecorders. Do you want more? The Rockpalast clip comes from a complete concert that has been aired at least once a year 1996-2001, but never since. The people responsible for the broadcasts are likely Pumpkins fans, and regardless in many aspects unique in the way they allow feedback from their audience to influence their programming. Please make the (trivial) effort of requesting the complete concert. Rockpalast will almost certainly heed to the call if a few hundred, heck, a few ten, would contact them. E-mail: [email protected] Telefon: 0180-5678 009 (12 Cent/Min, Mon-Fri 15:00-19:00) Snailmail: WDR Rockpalast - Info-Line - 50600 Köln www.rockpalast.de also has a newsletter, join that, and a guestbook, post there! A few select phrases of German: German: ------- [1] "Konnten Sie das Konzert 'the Smashing Pumpkins' von 1996 bitte zeigen? Ich sah 'Today' vor kurzem und es war Super!" [2] "Zeigen Sie bitte dem Konzert 'the Smashing Pumpkins' von 1996!" [3] "Mehr Smashing Pumpkins bitte!" [4] "er Clip der Smashing Pumpkins war groß. Mehr von diesem Rockpalast!" English: -------- [1] "Could you show the concert 'the Smashing Pumpkins' from 1996 please? I saw 'Today' recently and it was super!" [2] "Please show the concert 'the Smashing Pumpkins' from 1996!" [3] "More Smashing Pumpkins please!" [4] "the Smashing Pumpkins clip was great. More of that Rockpalast!" These, combined with some limited linguistic wit, and babelfish, should make your requests legible enough. I will continue to record any DVB Pumpkins I can get my hands on, but this would be quite a big thing. Equally so, any effort taken by the community towards this would signal praise and motivation to my ongoing pursuit. If these little dvds I post means something to people, then surely this concert, yet to be recorded, means something too? How much? Does the immense tremble and effort of communicating some lines in German really surpass the joy you would feel, had you that concert right now? You decide. And at the end of the day we'd get those in DVB-quality, if nothing more. Last edited by Dopamine : 03-24-2006 at 04:46 PM. |

Actually, I have written to Rockpalast in the past several times as dar as SP are considered.
Last time I wrote them, they said they'll consider repeating SP again since I claimed it has been a WHILE. |

Cool. I'm going to Cologna soon for an interview with the founding producer of Rockpalast, it's apparently a great show. I'll ask him what he knows about this show.

First of all, thanks for the torrent!
I guess what Severin is referring to was in January 2005 where viewers could vote for complete shows. Unfortunately the Pumpkins didn`t make it. It will definitely impress them if they get loads of eMails go ahead. But I`m not sure if they have the rights to show the material as often as they want without permission. I know that they took the Pumpkins show into consideration for a release on DVD - the Rockpalast already released some DVDs of their early shows in the 1970`s - 1980`s. All I know is that they didn`t get the permission from the Pumpkins or whoever has the rights on the material to release the Pumpkins 1996 Rockpalast show on DVD and I don`t know if they also need the rights to air the live show on TV whenever they want. But sending requests is a good thing. By the way, the reason that you can`t vote for the Pumpkins show now is that it wasn`t an Open Air Festival... I gave him some of the early Zwan live shows during a show where they showed requests of viewers. Among those was also Today from the Pumpkins. To every request you could send a person whom you dedicate the song to. My roommate requested Thru the eyes of ruby and dedicated it to me for the great time s we had travelling through Europe to see the Pumpkins. A few days later the guys from the Rockpalast asked me if I wanted to come to the TV station and do a live interview during the show about Zwan. That was early 2002 when no one knew very much about Zwan. He told me that he really likes the Pumpkins and that he saw them at the Melkweg in 95 as far as I can remember. He was also very amused about the naked man - the guy from Chumbawamba and asked him after the show why he ran on stage. The naked man was just pissed off that the Pumpkins got so much attention and his crappy band didn`t. If you want someone to show you Cologne or some good pubs drop me a PM |

You´re absolutely right on the permissions issue.. although permission for a dvd is quite different from broadcast rights. But that´s out of our hands, we just need to convince them that it´s worth the effort, small or large as it may be =) Peace, /Per Btw, Admins, wouldn´t this make a good sticky? The influx of passerby´s it would generate to keep it at the first page would surely serve the cause. Last edited by Dopamine : 03-16-2006 at 12:42 PM. |

I love that Rockpalast SP show, XYU was great!! The naked man was something...I didn't know he was part of a band....Well, he gave more attention to the Pumpkins and made the show more memorable. Who was the other guy ("the cousin of the naked man")who was dancing on stage, a random fan?
