Not really, it's the least original opinion about it.

If I had a nickel for every time someone said that the songs on Loveless are poorly written, I would have enough to pay fuzzy to stop posting.

loveless can get repetitive but it's a pretty sublime sounding record
even if someone didn't like it it should be easy to see why it's so revered, what else even actually sounds like loveless within the "genre" ? people say he borrowed from guthrie but that's sorta a stretch if you ask me, i don't think anyone's going to mistake the cocteau twins for my bloody valentine, great as they both are |

this is mostly an issue for the tracks 4-5 minutes or above, not all of 'em though i get it, just tryin to justify why i'd said there didn't seem to be much like it that came before since the most common influence people pointed at was those guys (CT) |

i feel like mbv (the record) warrants way more plays than i've actually given it so far
listened to only sometimes enough but the whole record i've made it through maybe twice in full it just seems so good |

mbv always had a shit drum sound
their early work isn't discussed much here but it pretty much sounds the same sans fuzz pedals as much as i love what the guitar is doing i'm not feeling the drums or most of the vocal production |

You are an actual evolutionary throwback. How do you resist the urge to eat your own hair every morning?

Songwriting is an important craft when it comes to music. MBV has a cool vibe going, but it's not something that I'm eager to re-visit on a consistent basis.

The songwriting is actually very good and is part of what makes it so good (and the main part where copycats fall short), fuzzy just thinks it's not good because it repeats more than he is used to.

What I usually like about St Vincent is her angular riffs while singing, but I love this (from 6:35 to the end):
It just taps into whatever it is that I love about the Pumpkins' guitar work. |

I do love a great chorus and bridge.
It's not a necessity though. Pavements one of my favorite groups and for them it's really all about the verses. |

Pavement exudes the same slacker vibe that MBV does but Pavement still writes good songs... It's not just "hey this little melody sounds cool, lets just keep doing that for 5 minutes and add in some warbles and knick-knacks so we can justify calling it a song".
