I'd hope it had mellowed since I last was here.

There's always a troll-paranoia on newbies.

Especially when they immediately open their own threads.

With exclusive content.

Zeitgeist is more compressed than MTaE. Only just, but still.

It looks like this forum isn't heavily moderated, which I think is awesome. The flip side is that you have to do your own moderating and ignore people.

who cares if it's legit? pretty sure we're all going to make our own judgments, like we've done for 30 years.

it has. racism, sexism, right wing trolling, and other forms of prejudice against people's immutable identities is not tolerated

it really doesn't need to be heavily moderated TBH. People here, for the most part, seem decent and come here to talk and interact positively. Also over the last two years there was a sort of purge of posters who regularly posted inflammatory racist, sexist, hateful bullshit

Okay, just prove i'm not a troll. Here is a piece I wrote on the 20th anniversary of MCIS for The Guardian.

Here is my review of Ogilala for Drowned In Sound and the interview I did with BC to promote that record, for iPaper (which is on off shot of the Independent).

Here's the in-depth unpacking of the Aeroplane Flies High reissue I did for The Quietus.

Obviously I write about a ton of stuff, not just SP - and you can follow the links in all of those pieces to the other work I did for those sites. Or google Marc Burrows, which is me. I'm the writer, not the footballer. Or the estate agent.

Yer, very upfront. Solara and Silvery are pretty representative, the sound is quite dry as well, and the singing style is a lot like Ogilala. If you're hoping for a return to the breathier, more liquid Corgan voice (or the screamy one) alas, not this time.

More vibrato? I’m not surprised... but I’m also out. It’s so horrible. I’m sure there are some good riffs, and hearing James play on a record again has gotta be sweet, but it’s all ruined if he’s slinging bat awful vibrato.

Thanks for the review Marc. I'm cautiously curious about the album, and your review confirms that it's another safe effort from BC and chums. Good to hear that Ebow is back on one track. I'll be curious to see if the next release is a departure from this.

Knights of Malta is definitely a sign that he's willing to take some chances in the future, it really sounds nothing like the SP we're used to, but there are other moments here that really default. And thanks!
