Default Uploading to Archive.org..? Redbull & Co help needed

I'm interested in uploading a large chunk of SP to Archive.org...

Problem is I've had 2 attempts so far and they sure as hell don't look like the uploads which Redbull and co. uploads to the Archive.

Any chance someone could give a rundown of the options they select when uploading? (If you could give an exact walkthrough that would be even better such as what info you put in certain boxes etc)

I've obviously uploading them wrong and willing to try and help the cause

make sure the .txt file is not included in the checksums!!!!!!!!!! upload will error out if you do this.

otherwise:

click upload

click on "advanced uploader for LMA concerts"

click the "share" button in the top right corner and select your files

fill out all the info

and you're good

One of the very first shows I uploaded didn't get listed with the rest of the SP shows. I think it ended up with the generic 'open source audio' stuff. I haven't had that problem since, but yeah...don't do what I did at first. :P

Ok last one for you guys to check before I go ahead and upload based on the same criteria:

Internet Archive: Free Download: Smashing Pumpkins Live at John F. Savage Hall on 1997-01-22

1997.01.22 - John F. Savage Hall, Toledo, OH

Taper: Eric Young
Generation: ANA-1
Source: ? (Aud #2; see below)
Location: ?
flaws: Tape flip during Rocket; tape flip during Space Jam; Silverfuck cut
Conversion: Sony TC-WE625S > SGI Octane2 > Cool Edit Pro 2.1 > CDWave > flac
Resampling: none; show A/D converted at 44.1k
Editor: Henry Bent
Editing: none
SHN: Master WAV > flac 1.2.1 (level 8)

Tracklist:

01 - MCIS (over PA) (cut) 0:36
02 - The Aeroplane Flies High 8:18
03 - Jellybelly 3:11
04 - Tonight, Tonight 4:20
05 - Rhinoceros 6:13
06 - Here is No Why 3:42
07 - Zero 2:27
08 - Fuck You 4:51
09 - Porcelina / Rocket (cut) 13:49
10 - 1979 4:48
11 - "Music of Our Roots, Music of the Mountains" 1:24
12 - Thirty-Three 4:13
13 - Bullet with Butterfly Wings 6:59
14 - Muzzle 3:43
15 - Disarm 3:26
16 - Thru the Eyes of Ruby 9:28
17 - Bad Moon Rising [Creedence Clearwater Revival] 0:45
18 - In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida [Iron Butterfly] 3:20
19 - X.Y.U. 8:31
20 - Drown / Hummer 7:14
21 - Cherub Rock 4:41
22 - Silverfuck (cut) 17:18
23 - Space Jam (cut) 4:55
24 - (jamming) 7:24
25 - Spiders 3:26

This is a what the SPLRA lists as Aud #2. It is much higher
quality than the ANA-2 of the same source that's on the
Internet Archive.

Thanks to Josh Provost for tracking this down oh so many
years ago.

Internet Archive: Free Download: Smashing Pumpkins Live at New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum on 1997-01-25

1997.01.25 - New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum, New Haven, CT

Taper: ?
Generation: ANA-3? (see below)
Source: ? (see below)
Location: ?
flaws: varying levels; two small dropouts during Porcelina; tape flip during Porcelina/Rocket; cut between Rocket and 1979; cut during 1st encore break and beginning of Spiders; tape flip during transition from Cherub Rock to Silverfuck
Conversion: Sony TC-WE625S > SGI Octane2 > Audition 3 > CDWave > flac
Resampling: none; show A/D converted at 44.1k
Editor: Henry Bent
Editing: none
SHN: Master WAV > flac 1.2.1 (level 8)

Tracklist:

01 - MCIS (over PA) 3:27
02 - The Aeroplane Flies High > 8:42
03 - Jellybelly 3:26
04 - Tonight, Tonight 4:32
05 - Rhinoceros 7:10
06 - Zero 2:23
07 - Fuck You 5:30
08 - Porcelina > (cut) 11:16
--tape flip--
09 - Rocket (cut) 1:44
10 - 1979 (with Jimmy Frog) and noodling 7:42
11 - Thirty-Three 4:26
12 - Bullet with Butterfly Wings 4:57
13 - Muzzle 4:22
14 - Disarm 3:39
15 - Thru the Eyes of Ruby 9:43
--tape flip--
16 - Spiders (tease) (cut) 1:30
17 - Landslide (tease) 0:48
18 - Tristessa, Soma, Last Song (teases) 1:20
19 - X.Y.U. (and encore break) 13:13
20 - Cherub Rock > 4:34
--tape flip--
21 - Silverfuck > 16:06
22 - Space Jam 6:09

This is AUD #2, a previously uncirculating ANA source of this
show. It isn't an improvement over the DAT source so this is
one for completists only.

The ANA noise at the beginning of the tape leads me to think
that this is ANA-3, but that is only a guess.

The levels were noticeably different on each tape side. I
did not make any attempt to correct this.

Internet Archive: Free Download: Smashing Pumpkins Live at Homestead Racetrack on 1997-12-05

1997.12.05 - Homestead Racetrack, Miami, FL

Taper: Maybe Josh Provost?
Generation: CDR-0
Source: AUD #2 (see below)
Location: ?
flaws: very beginning of Ruby cut
Conversion: CD-R > EAC > flac 1.1.4
Resampling: none
Editor: Henry Bent
Editing: none
SHN: Master WAV > flac 1.1.4 (level 8)

Tracklist:

01 - Thru the Eyes of Ruby (cut) 8:54
02 - In the Arms of Sleep 4:20
03 - Where Boys Fear to Tread 3:51
04 - Zero 3:17
05 - Ava Adore 5:25
06 - Porcelina of the Vast Oceans 9:21
07 - Bullet with Butterfly Wings 5:03
08 - 1979 5:04
09 - Eye (with Marilyn Manson and Twiggy) 5:28
10 - X.Y.U. (with Marilyn Manson and Twiggy) 7:33

This is what I am calling AUD #2, a second source for this
show that the SPLRA does not list.

Josh Provost sent this to me a long time ago. It is possible
that he taped it, and it is also entirely possible that
someone else did. I don't remember anymore.

Any questions, comments - [email protected]

Internet Archive: Free Download: Smashing Pumpkins Live at Shoreline Amphitheater on 1997-10-18

1997.10.18 - Shoreline Amphiteater, Mountain View, CA

Taper: Josh Provost
Generation: ANA-1
Source: Radio Shack SCR-59 Walkman (AUD #4)
Location: ?
flaws: To Sheila cuts in
Conversion: Sony TC-WE625S > SGI Octane2 > Cool Edit Pro 2.1 > CDWave > flac
Resampling: none; show A/D converted at 44.1k
Editor: Henry Bent
Editing: none
SHN: Master WAV > flac 1.1.4 (level 8)

Tracklist:

01 - To Sheila (cut) 3:48
02 - Ava Adore 4:56
03 - Tonight, Tonight 4:51

05 - 1979 4:16
06 - Bullet with Butterfly Wings 5:19
07 - Eye (with MM and Twiggy) 4:15
08 - The Beautiful People [Manson] (with MM and Twiggy) 2:47
09 - X.Y.U. 7:33
10 - Muzzle 4:45

This is what SPLRA has listed as AUD #4, a previously
uncirculating recording of this show. It has nothing to offer
to make it better than any other source, so this is for crazy
completists only.

13 - Shame 4:47
14 - Tear 4:30
15 - Blissed and Gone 4:18

This is AUD #2, a previously uncirculating source of this show.

I'm listening now. It's definitely a better recording, but I wouldn't say light years. There's still quite a bit of audience noise, and the drop-outs are kinda annoying. Still a great show. I forgot how much I dug James' songs. And that he's not a very good singer.

Thanks for circulating this!

Long live the LMA!

It amazes that people go to shows and talk through the entire show. When I lived in NYC people would never do this, here in Florida people do this all the time, to the point where you can be right in front of the stage and not be able to hear. I was at a show last year where i actually had to go back to the VIP area and listen to the show being piped in over the PA.

Seriously, if you are going to talk stay at home.

People spent money to hear the band sing the songs, not you.

To be fair it tends to be worse at shows where people have not paid. I'm sure Viper room was 90% industry and people who were there to be seen. The time I had to hide in the VIP area it was a show where I would say at least half the crowd were not there to see the band and where just there for the opening night of a festival. It's still insanely rude though.

ok, this thread has reawakened some of my old fire...
I just pulled all the shows with lineage from my old computer at the parents' house that aren't on lma (~250), and I'll be upping those over the next several months as time allows...I even dug out a few old CDRs from my snail trading days....

up first
1993/11/22 interview Seton Hall (ANAx>CDR)
1996/08/28 Salt Lake City (ANAm>CDR)
1996/08/31 Wichita (DAT>ANAx>CDR)
1998/05/12 Jools Holland (VIDx>CDR)
1998/05/18 Cannes (VIDx>CDR)
1998/06/07 Rome (ANAx>CDR)
2000/01/31 Lawrence (ANAx>CDR)
