Uploading to Archive.org..? Redbull & Co help needed
I'm interested in uploading a large chunk of SP to Archive.org...
Problem is I've had 2 attempts so far and they sure as hell don't look like the uploads which Redbull and co. uploads to the Archive. Any chance someone could give a rundown of the options they select when uploading? (If you could give an exact walkthrough that would be even better such as what info you put in certain boxes etc) I've obviously uploading them wrong and willing to try and help the cause |

make sure the .txt file is not included in the checksums!!!!!!!!!! upload will error out if you do this.
otherwise: click upload click on "advanced uploader for LMA concerts" click the "share" button in the top right corner and select your files fill out all the info and you're good |

I'm not seeing the option to download the entire show in 1 zip file if that helps.

One of the very first shows I uploaded didn't get listed with the rest of the SP shows. I think it ended up with the generic 'open source audio' stuff. I haven't had that problem since, but yeah...don't do what I did at first. :P

Ok last one for you guys to check before I go ahead and upload based on the same criteria:

It is much higher quality than the ANA-2 of the same source that's on the Internet Archive. Thanks to Josh Provost for tracking this down oh so many years ago. Any questions, comments - [email protected] Internet Archive: Free Download: Smashing Pumpkins Live at New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum on 1997-01-25 1997.01.25 - New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum, New Haven, CT Taper: ? It isn't an improvement over the DAT source so this is one for completists only. The ANA noise at the beginning of the tape leads me to think that this is ANA-3, but that is only a guess. The levels were noticeably different on each tape side. I did not make any attempt to correct this. Any questions, comments - [email protected] Internet Archive: Free Download: Smashing Pumpkins Live at Homestead Racetrack on 1997-12-05 1997.12.05 - Homestead Racetrack, Miami, FL Taper: Maybe Josh Provost? (with Marilyn Manson and Twiggy) 7:33 This is what I am calling AUD #2, a second source for this show that the SPLRA does not list. Josh Provost sent this to me a long time ago. It is possible that he taped it, and it is also entirely possible that someone else did. I don't remember anymore. Has anyone listened to the new Viper Room yet? It has to be light years better then the old version.

I'm listening now. It's definitely a better recording, but I wouldn't say light years. There's still quite a bit of audience noise, and the drop-outs are kinda annoying. Still a great show. I forgot how much I dug James' songs. And that he's not a very good singer.
Thanks for circulating this! Long live the LMA! |

Seriously, if you are going to talk stay at home.
People spent money to hear the band sing the songs, not you. |

To be fair it tends to be worse at shows where people have not paid. I'm sure Viper room was 90% industry and people who were there to be seen. The time I had to hide in the VIP area it was a show where I would say at least half the crowd were not there to see the band and where just there for the opening night of a festival. It's still insanely rude though.

ok, this thread has reawakened some of my old fire...
I just pulled all the shows with lineage from my old computer at the parents' house that aren't on lma (~250), and I'll be upping those over the next several months as time allows...I even dug out a few old CDRs from my snail trading days.... up first 1993/11/22 interview Seton Hall (ANAx>CDR) 1996/08/28 Salt Lake City (ANAm>CDR) 1996/08/31 Wichita (DAT>ANAx>CDR) 1998/05/12 Jools Holland (VIDx>CDR) 1998/05/18 Cannes (VIDx>CDR) 1998/06/07 Rome (ANAx>CDR) 2000/01/31 Lawrence (ANAx>CDR) Last edited by redbull : 03-22-2010 at 03:17 AM. |
