Default COMPUTER HALP

i remember calling in help from computer geeks in times of need when they still were here. Are still any people left who could help me out?

I have a pretty neat laptop that should be able to run some nice games but lately I've been running into problems that make a lot of games unplayable. For instance with GTA V, when I start playing it, it works nice for about a minute and after that the sounds starts stuttering and the graphics along with it. The sound stutter is extremely annoying and it seems to slow everything down, although I have no clue whether the problem would boil down to sound card issues or something else.

I tried changing settings on my video card for the games where the problem turned up, I freed up half of my hard drive space, I defragmented the whole hard drive, i installed a few programs that might help fix it but nothing helped so far.

The sound stutter sounds exactly like the music in this youtube video (starting at 1.00) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IKI9wZPrFg. I also tried doing what that guy did but it didn't work.

ANYONE WHO CAN HELP?!?!?!?!?!?!

a laptop than plays GTA V? Must have cost a pretty penny.

You have to be aware the issue might just be a bug that needs to be fixed in a future update by the devs...

Extremely common with games on PC.

it was expensive, but my laptop has more than the recommended requirements to play gta v. also it's not just that game, it's more of a common problem in games.

How hot is it running? You might be seeing CPU throttling when it gets too hot.

Check the CPU temperature using software like Core Temp, HWMonitor, etc. On a laptop, the maximum CPU temperature you can reach before damaging it is something like 100º C. When the temperature reaches the threshold determined by the manufacturer - 95º, 90º or even 85º, depending on the laptop - it reduces the CPU clock rate to generate less heat.

If your laptop is overheating, the first thing to do is check how clean the vents are. Getting rid of dust can help.

for what it's worth i had the same problem with advanced warfare... i changed the display settings to take away the black bars that make cut scenes look more cinematic or whatever and it worked. dunno what GTAV's settings are in that regard, but you may want to check it out.

also look around on tom's hardware or the steam forums.. chances are there's a thread where somebody's having the same issues as you
