she used to read poetry to me and it would dispel my anxiety immediately

I encouraged her to look into how to get paid to read audiobooks or even technical manuals or something for the visually impaired or literally anything like that, but she was too ill to make herself do that. Hers is the only voice I ever really enjoyed hearing read something out loud

my first job fresh outta sound engineering school was recording audiobooks with TEH CELEBZ in Israel, aimed to be this interest-peaking project. it was the most bullshit fucking job and i hated it, and the boss was basically an aggro lunatic who was later really shitty to me, but i did get to work with one or two people i really appreciate so that was awesome (one of them being a dubbing artist who voiced all my favorite Disney movies and cartoons as a kid - major 'whoa' moment, haha).

AAAANYWAY so as somebody who had to listen to books being read way more that i would have liked to, my theory is that it's so fucking grating just because it's so incredibly 'incorrectly' different than the way your inner voice sounds when you read a book. there's such a jarring difference between the pacing and the tone and the nuances that make up 'correct' reading to you, that it makes listening to somebody else doing it for you an incredibly fruitful exercise in frustration.

today was the final day of my summer math class and i just eked out a B. i am so happy and relieved. my average after the first exam (on which i got a 60) was a 74 and from that point on i studied like it was my job.

Finally told my boss that I've been dating a co-worker for some time. She was super cool and supportive and said we don't have to tell anyone else if we don't want to.

my summer class ends next wednesday with an exam. as long as i dont fail it i should have an A for the class. I haven't gotten a grade for my paper yet but I'm guessing a low B. I hated the paper and didn't try very hard because I knew I could slack and still pull out an A in the end. i just had no interest in the topic whatsoever. but it was only worth about 20% of my grade plus there is a decent amount of extra credit and i've gotten 100s on the other tests

it's really not worth talking about any more if you missed it. there was board beef for a long time and it hopefully has ended now after both participants were banned for 2 weeks. that is very much oversimplifying what happened but i really want this to be all put behind us, it was a very uneventful two weeks and that is a good thing.
