Making "rules" for yourself and then breaking them and making new rules is a sign of addiction. Not judging you dude, but just be careful.

How about just treat yourself to 1 or 2 beverages and leave it at that?

So, R died today. It was getting to be a marathon and I was going stir crazy, so I left to take a nap and go to therapy. Thought it likely he would pass during this time, and he did. My mom was there and holding his hand when he stopped breathing.

No one should have to die like he died. I've never seen anyone in such pain. They knocked his ass out with 8mg of ativan and 30mg morphine subcutaneous every 4 hours, plus 10mg morphine PRN. they were doing 6mg/15mg plus a 25mcg fentanyl patch and we were getting the nurse every hour for that PRN dose, he was still in so much pain. the last day he didn't need any PRN - he was in a coma, i believe, for the last about 18 hours of his life. in the end he also didn't have the death rattle very much. he seemed peaceful.

RIP dude

Well, if you're alone and the only way to can get your rocks off is to get completely plastered, then it indicates a sense of desperation to me. And again, it's kind of dangerous to be drinking in excess without anyone to help you should hurt yourself, choke on your own vomit, set your home on fire, etc.

Didn't intend for my post to come across as judgey.

Sorry to hear that reprise... Although maybe it was for the best at that point. My condolences for your loss though

no no no. If I'm drinking alone and I got a great buzz or whatever I leave it at that. I never throw up or pass out when I'm drinking at home or whatever. The band occurrences have historically happened when I was out on the town or something. I think I have my shit under control now though.

Everything in moderation.

Drinking alone can be fun and harmless despite the social connotation that it means there is something wrong with you. Doing drugs in solitude is different than with people IMO and alcohol is no different. When I am alone, I feel more fucked up from less (be it weed or beer or whatever). I can drink just one of two beers or a cocktail, smoke a bowl, and feel good for hours.

However I would probably not recommend drinking alone to anyone who specifically has a drinking problem

Using that logic unless you smoke pot socially you have a drug problem.

Yeah I agree really. It's harder to draw a limit in party atmospheres and that type of thing.

But drinking alone can just be a fun laid back kind of time... Soothes the boredom.

I think there's a distinction though between drinking and getting drunk. I have no problem getting "buzzed" alone but I tend to think getting drunk alone is troublesome.

Correct phrasing alternatives:
