Smashing Pumpkins
October 31st, 1998
Dodger Stadium
Los Angeles, CA, US

taper: Ben Golomb
source: audience Hi8 master > 1st gen VHS
transfer: Magnavox ZV457MG9 standalone > DVDr > DVDShrink (removed generic SA menus, no re-encoding)

01. Money (That's What I Want)
02. Zero
03. Ava Adore
04. Eye
05. Tear
06. Today
07. Bullet with Butterfly Wings
08. Thru the Eyes of Ruby
09. Cash Car Star
10. X.Y.U.
> The Ether's Tragic (tease)
> Where Boys Fear to Tread (tease)
> Never Say Never [Romeo Void] (tease)

Thanks to Rhinowing for converting his original source of this show (on Zomb). Did a bunch to it including new audio, tracking it to the moving screen(when it was on screen), some colormatching, and added the pro-shot Crash Car Star from the Fox special.

Still pretty rough but if you like rarer stuff this should be a bit more watchable...Happy Halloween

Thanks for that! We Only Come Out At Night is quite amusing, James and D'arcy fuck it up and Billy is a dick about it

Ava Adore:

http://archive.org/details/tsp2012-08-04.auckland

I saw the Pumpkins in 2008, 2010, and 2012. In 2010 they were in much higher spirits and in 2012 they were in even higher spirits. Ava Adore is performed really well here. Jeff and Billy jam around during the interlude part, then the band jam out the outro. The banter afterwards is really funny too. It's a graet recording, to boot.

You know, judging from all of the concerts SP played as part of the Gish tour in 1992, it really seems as through about 75% of Siamese Dream was complete if not yet committed to record. Clearly most of the songs forming the backbone of the record were already there.

When I first read about the creation of Siamese Dream, the story told about how that album came to be made it sound as though Billy crashed hard after the Gish tour, freaked out about writing a new album that wasn't there, wrote Today because he was freaking out suicidally with writer's block, and then...the rest of the album came.

Well I guess all of that is sort of beside the point...but I was just reminded of it.

A buddy of mine who did/does a ton of concert filming filmed it. Pretty sure he put it out on VHS or maybe DVD around the time. I know he's aware of the pre-FM (and I sent him the dl link off archive). Not sure if he plans to do a synced version. The full (cam audio) version on his channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hsn-mfoAZME - I'll check w/ my buddy to see if he has any intention to sync it in full.....

How did you manage to get the pre-FM? Amazing quality! Was that a lucky break or did you have access to other concert audio like that?

It was a bit of a lucky break. I used to play in local bands in Philly and made friends with some radio folks who had access to the preFM source. I don't know if you've seen the Foo Fighters acoustic preFM from '00 in Philly but I was the source for that too. I think the only other piece I have is a Blindside acoustic session in Philly that I never shared with anyone. I didn't really ask for things, just happened to get 3 great sources through good friends.
