good

at least if he sells out this way there's less chance for arbitrary "pop moves" on the new album

Cool

Now it would make sense to put out the next Shiny record for free!

At least for all Apple iPhone users, like once at U2's Sons Of Innocence deal...

That was super annoying, I used itunes quite a bit at the time and all of a sudden the U2 album just showed up on my library and there was no way of getting rid of it.

True, but apple also makes it really hard to do so because you need proprietary tools to get it open...
I eventually opened mine with a rock, but not only could I still not find the U2, putting it back together proved more of a challenge than one would assume.

Apple is one of the most liberal companies in the world. Surprised they would have anything to do with Billy.

Apple have to come at the planned obsolescence thing differently after being fined tens of millions of Euros for slowing their devices with software updates timed perfectly for the launch of newer models.

Now, a Smashing Pumpkins 2.0 album will appear on outdated devices to help consumers along with the disposal/upgrade process.

The next record will be a whole album of Apple commercial jingles.. at least it will be better than Shiny and Bright or whatever the solo album was called.
