It seems like, to my reluctant mind, that there's some intentional occult symbolism at work here — I vaguely vaguely remember something about ages of the sun and the moon, with the moon representing a higher level of righteousness and the feminine

In fact I'm sure this was the overarching story/meaning of Grant Morrison's comic miniseries Nameless, but man, I could not understand it at all

Somebody who remembers all the shit they googled during the o-board days can jump in any time here

It didn't pull me in as quickly as Annihilator did, but it seemed promising.

Okay, if you want to go further down the rabbit hole than any reasonable person would go, I just found this article on Nameless that goes into a lot of Moon meanings in the Qabalah and tarot

If I can summarize, I think the important points are that

• The Moon can represent Pisces
• It represents a transition through darkness to light
• It's associated with the stage in the Qabalah called Yesod, which represents the ascension into the dream world

I think, basically, that Billy is writing about the resurrection of the band/Zero, and/or more alchemical stuff about purifying your life to a higher form

I am reluctant to write all this because I got sucked way into the Machina Mystery while it was new, and now feel a little foolish about it all, but I came away somewhat interested in alchemy and the occult, so here we are

I initially wondered if his use of "pelican" in Silvery Sometimes was for the alchemical symbol; I remember this much for some reason

I'm pasting from the first site I found about it:

"This active working with the soul forces is perfectly pictured in the Pelican. The Pelican is shown stabbing its breast with its beak and nourishing its young with its own blood. The alchemist must enter into a kind of sacrificial relationship with his inner being. He must nourish with his own soul forces, the developing spiritual embryo within."

He said on Instagram, though, that this was somehow a reference to The Marked, so unless he was into this stuff even that far back, I don't think it applies

It's the final song, so presumably that strengthens the connection between that and "Solara" a bit
