Oh man, has netphoria always been a place for sp haters and people who got stuck in 1995?
have you heard the non-studio zwan stuff? it is excellent. i like mary star also though. songs like endless summer and desire are very good

Truth spoken. This place introduced me to everything I missed out on during those years when I thought Billy was fucking off with some hippy lovefest band. Unreleased Zwan material ranges from good to downright spectacular.

Had a similar revelation. I was starting to try and put work into making myself like it, and then i realized my music listening efforts are so much better spent elsewhere.

this album is the worst thing he's ever done.

Go listen to Teargarden again, or Zeitgeist.

thank you again for introducing me to alcest

they're kinda pumpkinsy in a way, really heavy but also really light, melodic, dynamic, and beautiful

though it's tripping me out i can't understand any of the lyrics

That's the best part. Fuck understanding. But yes it makes it hard to sing along.

And yeah I really do get a pumpkiny vibe from Alcest. So happy you like them too. That makes two converts!

Can you imagine me singing along to Boris? Heh. Every now and then there's a word or phrase I kinda know so I bellow it out and then return to mumbling along to the rest of that oriental gibberish.

Welcome to netphoria!

Kidding aside, I'm still disappointed in myself that I wasted the time to try to get anything out of this, twice. And because people here actually like it, I'll end up listening to it a third time and still scratch my head... I don't dislike it, I nothing-it, not a single song on this that gives me anything whatsoever, and that's a first with Bolly.

Convert me, too. Do I start with the most recent album with Alcest or should I start with the first one?

I dunno I like respect y'all's opinions and errything but it is way beyond me how people could think this album is worse than Monuments.

i basically agree with pave that it's nothing. it isn't offensive to listen to, so that makes it better than most recent stuff

I'm not that trained in comparing different forms of crap tbh, this is the only "band" where I even try.

I don't think Monuments was better. Monuments was a complete piss-take, so bad that it was already funny, I had a blast with these tracks at the gym. You know like watching a C-movie that is so horrendous you can't help laughing.

This just does nothing. Ranking Zeitgeist to now would be impossible for me for the same reason, neither of the albums is one I see in my collection and go "hm, yes, that's the album I want to listen to right now" - ever.

woa. this has all the ingredients I like! can hear only half of what he's singing, but that's enough for a first listen. this track is a beauty.
thanks took, I know what I'll listen to for the rest of the day, this is gorgeous for pre-dawn.
if someone else would like to rinse their ears, worth it

Quote:

A jamais valsent avec la lumière;
Où peuvent librement errer
Tous les souvenirs de nos vies sur Terre
Que le temps vengeur aura voulu effacer

this is exactly what I want at 6am at least haha.

On that album now from the start, took directed me to a track that would do me in right away. I like the drums, yay!

then I hope their newest album is good, too, Kodama, so I have an excuse to buy this, because would you look at this...

no took, you don't, actually. I can dive into sound like this stone-cold sober and still float. took a couple of years, but it does work!

Kodama was partly inspired by Princess Mononoke.

Still haven't seen Princess Monoke. Guess I should change that, I trust you now, Tookling, Les voyages did it, my ears are having a party here. Princess Monoke will be watched this weekend!

2nd track around 3.30, Ram...for me as non-drummer this is highly enjoyable, if I could play drums, I'd go and try that now haha.
