Default friendship advice needed.

Some of you may remember that I did something incredibly awful to a girl that I cared for very much. It caused her to quit talking to me. This period of silence has lasted for nearly 4 months. I feel absolutely terrible about what I did and how callously I reacted to her reaction. She was a great friend to me, and I just trashed it because I wasn't thinking straight.

Well, her birthday is thursday, and I'm considering breaking the silence with a simple card, probably a blank one with a black and white seascape and inscribed within with something to the effect of 'For what you think my well wishes are worth, Happy Birthday.'

Is this such a good idea? I have a friend who says I should get her a single rose, but others say that may indicate that I have more than friendship on my mind. Should I even give her anything? Should I just move on and worry not about making amends with girls who've broken my heart?

Your idea of a card is a good one. Don't let other people talk you out of it.

i think a card would be appropriate, just as long as you don't go too far. if you give the hint that you'd like to make ammends, she'll know.

if she wants to make up with you, she will. if not, don't keep doing things to try to get her back cause it'll just end up having her like you even less.

The card is probably the best course of action. What method of delivery are you planning on?

She is in one of my classes, but I wouldn't want to create an atmosphere of discomfort in public like that, especially on her birthday.

I'm thinking of dropping it by her house after school, of giving it to one of her friends.

Maybe drop by her house and put it in the mailbox or something.

do the card...but don't write "for all its worth" she could take it the wrong way. just be like..."we've been through a lot together, and regardless of the past, i just want to say happy birthday. i send you my best. love always john" something like that. it's cute, short...and requires no flowers...unless you want to draw one.

I agree. Make sure it doesn't sound loaded. Don't make it your priority to revive your friendship, but to let her know that you still care about her.

definitely do the card, but not the flowers. And I wouldn't recommend giving it to a friend...drop it by her house after school. That takes more guts and I think it would seem like you care more but not too much to scare her or something.
