it's true. post-internet is the worst we are all just scrambling trying to make sense of it by buying new smart phones every year or so so we can check facebook and movie listings and sports scores instead of having to do that by phone.

for the record that's not me that ever said that but it does seem to be a fairly common technique post-2000 to just be a band that sounds and looks and acts like you are a band from another era. it's like how well can you recreate that image or that idea and in some ways how can you do it better.

i've never placed judgement on it - it's just strange to me, becuase all of this info is now so readily available you can exist within micro-genres that DON'T ACTUALLY EXIST and actually ride out a semi-normal musical life.

to use a very outdated art term, it's very post-modern and most of me is happy that it pisses people off

in some ways its very exciting because i cannot foresee what the "future of rock and roll" could honestly sound like. its like a code that hasn't been cracked.

or maybe i'm wrong and should have been following the korn lineage...

I buy vinyl because I like to look at it and collect it. It's not about showing it off

savages fits that description but they still kill it

i just figure post industrial consumerism should collapse before something changes. its the marxist in me, the means of production reflects in art but when the means is buying plastic crap then the art is going to be uninspired too

How is reading physical books cool or attempting to be cool I don't even.

Point was that I understand why people would listen to vinyl because I read physical books

you said that before and brought up writing letters to fan clubs and pin boards.

it is simply not true - there is no equivalent that existed before web-age. I don't expect you to see that, though. You were already born into all of this.

The equivalent of message boards would be those things.

Equivalent of superficial posing occurred in magazines and on Television and radio.

I never said it was a good idea.

You're also out of your element though.

Not to mention, i never sign off my legal rights to sue them for anything like that happening. Basically, if something bad happens that it didn't say in the documents might happen, you can possibly sue them. They make that very clear when we sign the document that we do not surrender legal rights.

Anyway, i never said collecting records was crazy. I said why i don't.

I don't own dvds, or at least haven't bought any in over a decade. I do own books though. It's the only physical stuff i still buy in terms of art. Eventually i'll probably go all digital with that too. I don't really have a problem with everything turning digital. I think in the long run it's better this way. How could it not be.... all this production of physical shit.

kids are fine on my lawn, just the ones celebrating superficial posing 24/7 can fuck off - no matter their age.

Yes but let's never forget they were raised to be this way. By either our generation or the one before us.

Every generation since the boomers (them included) has been full of themselves. It's only gotten worse.

I still blame the boomers though. Or maybe i should blame their parents....

I blame cavemen. These fuckers didnt know how to raise their kids right.

thing is, you can raise your kid "right" - you can't raise it in a bubble.
I blame each and everyone of us.

my neighbor's daughter threw a tantrum last week I could hear - over two gardens and several walls.

Miss 6-year-old went mental because her mom wanted to get her ready and buckled up in the car, but she wanted to take a selfie with her mom's phone, showing how she got into the car. for her groundschool friends, because "getting into the car" is apparently a thing for little ones.

her mom snapped because she is sick and tired of "give me your phone, I want a picture." if you never let your kid do it, it will be the one everybody else in school picks on.

like the ones without a tv set at home were ridiculed back then when.

we had tv but only one channel until I was like 9 and then we had like 4 channels after that by stealing satellite signals

As a result I never got to watch 80's kids staples like gi joe or transformers or Masters of the universe. I was mad about that as a kid. Later on i realised i missed nothing at all, of course.
